I was not feeling well this afternoon so I took some cold medicine and fell asleep. Woke up 10 mins ago and remembered the lottery was tonight, saw we got the #2 pick, and that is fantastic. Now we pretty much have our pick of any of the guys we want. Finally something to make this horrible season worth it. Now don't screw up that pick, Mitch and co!

Those type of players are becoming rare, doesn't mean it can't buck the trend and shift the league away from this small ball bull s***.

Yeah, well, if it's not working out in 2 years because of the way the league is trending, trade him.

Imagine if we play the Clippers or the Rockets... Oh man, that would be seriously ugly. The massive, space eating, body clearing Okafor or the nimble, more mobile Towns? We haven't had this problem in...oh, since I can't remember.

I'm confortable with the #2 pick since there's no unanimous choice at #1. I don't want to be the team who selected the wrong guy like teams that pass on Jordan or Durant at #1.

IMO, the only reason to take Okafor over Towns is the weak base injury risk TRD pointed out (and it's a big reason). If the lakers docs agree his base will be ok, you are getting the best player in this draft.

Obviously, I'm ecstatic about the results tonight, but now that this is real, I really want Okafor. The draft is always a crap shoot. Players with Okafor's skillset and post-game don't come around very often. He might have some defensive issues, but he has the offensive repertoire to be an all star. Players with Towns "body frame, potential, and defensive impact" seem to frequently bust and become nothing more than role players.

I want to get excited about Towns. But I just haven't seen enough from him to know he's a sure thing. Part of me wouldn't mind if we took a gamble on Russell or Mudiay over Towns.

This example doesn't work perfectly since he got hurt, but I'm sure the GM's who picked Tyrus Thomas and Shelden Williams over Brandon Roy were kicking themselves for many years.

Maybe that's blasphemy to compare Towns to those players, but I'm sure they were similarly hyped going into their respective drafts.

^Oh it's that athleticism "thang" agin'... I would want Okafor. You can't teach size plus he comes from a good program learning from Coach K.

Yep...overpowering back to the basket bigs are hard to come by in this day and age. I want to see that type of game again where we pound opponents inside into submission.

Guys just be happy that we are even having this discussion/choice between Towns and Okafor. Things could've gone infinitely worse tonight.

Also, let's not forget we have the 27th and 34th pick. Mitch was able to bag Clarkson last year at 46.

It's a league of trends and followers of trends. When we had Shaq + Kobe everyone was scrambling trying to find a big and a wing to match up with them. When the C Bags and then the Heat won with a "Big 3" everyone thought that was the blueprint. Right now, the trend is all wings.

I say you're right @JSM. Let's turn back the clock and pound the rock. Bring back bully ball!
