Man, if we can move up and grab RHJ with our other first rounder...throw money at Demarre Carroll, sign Mo Will.

    Okafor/Black
    Davis/Randle/Kelly
    Carroll/Hollis-Jefferson/Young
    Kobe/Ellington/Brown
    Clarkson/Mo Williams

    Ooooweeee

One thing that needs to be mentioned regarding Lakers' No. 2 pick is it offers massive trade potential, either before or after using it.

Updated mock drafts are popping up. Most have us with Okafor right now.

    This.

Let's save the anxiety for another day. Considering how horribly this day could have gone, everyone here should be over the moon. And I can see most of us are.

    Great %@#king day.

No thank you. With Okafor you get an offensive threat for 1.5 decades. With Towns, if his knees hold up, he's going to be an extremely effective defender and a useful player on offense. I don't trade that away. I build up the team, continue to address needs (starting SF) in free agency and wait for Kobe to retire and then the cap to jump. We are in a position like this so rarely, giving it up is dumb in my opinion. It's LA, we'll always be able to lure guys we want. A draft spot like this is a gift. Even with a Cousins (just throwing a popular trade target out there), we aren't going anywhere this season.

Sucks to be Fish and Phil and LOL Thomas back in the building who's Dolan's main BBall squeeze. Fun times in the Apple next year. No zen is going to help the Triangle without Jordan / Pippen, Shaq / Kobe, Kobe / Gasol / Odom / Bynum / Ariza / World Peace.

depends on the offer. you never know who teams might put out there for a pick this high. prime Elton brand moved for the #2, for example, and I don't think people foresaw that.

I would have traded any pick 3 or lower (assuming one of the bigs didn't slip) for cousins, risk and all. but if you have a shot at towns/okafor, I better be getting a perennial allstar without baggage in return.

the one thing I will say is that the lakers haven't been super patient in the past, and they won't have their pick next year, so being good soon is going to be quite appealing.

Yeah but the spacing especially if we draft Okafor with Rondo would be horrendous. I think if we draft Okafor there is less likely to sign Rondo

Just stop with the "trade" bleep. That's what the Knicks have to consider now in OUR 4 spot. LOLOL. And SUCK IT Philly. [IMG]

On the other hand, the time before last I was this happy was when we traded for Pau.

Not that Philly won't take Russell now and be very dangerous.

Absolutely. I hate the mechanics around Towns when he jumps. I absolutely hate it. Everyone sees Bynum in him and yet conveniently forgets what happened to Andrew's knees. Unless Towns overhauls his mechanics, I think he'll have a lot of knee issues in the not too distant future. Okafor is the safer pick, the more NBA ready player, and I think in the end will have a fantastic career.

I'd take our "Little 3" over Philly's any day of the week and 10 times on Sunday. They're going to keep sucking while we're suddenly in a position to rebuild our franchise in a single summer. The FA interviews are going to go so well.

"Hey so we've got a 1st Team All-Rookie, a kid that Kobe Bryant vouches for, and one of the most talented young big men in the league. We've got enough cash to bring you (anyone) in for the max and still add more pieces around you. When the cap explodes, Kobe either retires or holds on because of YOU and makes a run at another ring. Here's your contract for your own show on TWC. Here's six different endorsement opportunities. Here's five scripts for a movie role. Here's your massive Laker contract. Here's the classifieds for Malibu, OC, and a few downtown lofts you might like. We've already got a plan to go after all the big name players over the next two years. All you have to do is sign here."
