Thaddeus Young and Jimmy Butler are two very different players. And Jeanie Buss runs the show, not Mitch and not Jim Buss. Also, Mitch is known for working slowly so I'm not sure that Jim is holding him back in some way.
I've been high on harris for a while. I hope the lakers sign him next year. (for a reasonable contract)
The more i think about it, the more i don't think Gasol will leave Memphis for a bad team like us. going to the Spurs or Pacers (as a Hibbert replacment) looks to me as a perfect spot for him. I think Rondo + Harris + Hibbert is the best we can do. as for the Hibbert part - I think he will not want a big contract. he has the LA attitude. he as reached the bottom point with his basketball play, so he only has ways to go up. maybe in a new environment. he is still one of the best defencive centers. and he has shows that with full secure in his game he still can make a 20+ 10+ games. enyway with Kobe and other shooters on the team he dosent need to be a scorer. bring in harris who can do everything. and Rondo is still Rondo. in a good system you don't pass on near triple double player. Rondo Kobe Harris Randle Hibbert is one heck of a starting lineup. Young, Lin, Davis off the bench. maybe Hill will take a paycutt? thats 9 good players.
Rondo and Harris would be very nice. Add a couple of first round picks and next year will look a lot different.
First of all, f*** Baxter Holmes, just because. Second, why would we give up 2 firsts for Rondo when we can sign him outright? On topic, if we can go unrealistic, give me Rondo and Marc Gasol. That puts us possibly instantly back in contention. Rondo doesn't defer to Kobe, he gives us defense at the 1, and Gasol gives us D in the paint, and a great all arounder big. Rondo, Kobe, Randle, Gasol, nice.
We only have about 25 million in cap space at most this next offseason. Let's taper the expectations.
Hey, nobody said "who are your 2nd or 3rd tier, or rock bottom when we strike out free agent signings?". They said "top 2 free agent signings", so I gave my top 2 realistic or not.
I have no love for Baxter Holmes. The only reason I saw this was because it was reteweeted by Ding. If we get Rondo, it'll be for the max. Not because he's necessarily worth it, but because we as an organization have been preaching that we are about the players. If we want Rondo, we give him the max I'm almost sure of it. If that happens we have almost no money left and I hope we use it very wisely. Rondo's max would start near 20 million and leave us with roughly 5-7 million to spend (depending on our picks and whatnot).
I can think of 10 PGs I'd rather have than Rondo. I know Kobe loves his competitive spirit, but I just don't think he's a good fit next to Kobe.
Well, he won't defer to Kobe and pass to the open guy instead of dumping it to Bean. If he only had an outside shot, he would be awesome.
@TIME I'm not sure if I can think of ten PGs I want more than Rondo and I certainly can't think of many (if any) I want MORE than Rondo AND are available this summer. Dragic comes to mind, but that's about it and all things equal, I want Rondo. If Dragic is significantly cheaper than Rondo, that's one thing otherwise I want Rondo over him too.
There probably aren't five available. But, I would take Dragic over Rondo so fast it would make your head spin.
