If we had room I'd give him a shot. He's not exactly bad and its not his fault Cavs picked him first. Maybe low risk high reward but we have way too many bigs already.

Minny might have someone at that position, but I don't understand cutting cheap talent. What don't we know? Why would you cut him vs flip him for a future draft pick? Even a 2nd rounder..... This is probably a red flag, and with that, Mitch will probably say :MitchReally::No:

I'm sorry but I'm not as high on Metta as some here...he was pretty bad for us 3 years ago and I don't see how he could be any better now...he's just going to take minutes away from some of our younger guys

It's looking like Bennett could end up in Portland or Philly...surely he's praying that Portland picks him up off waivers before Philly does....that would be another nightmare season waiting to happen if he's going there.

If you check what we're saying though, most of us are saying we don't want him to play much. He's just there to help the young guys deal with top-notch NBA defense in practice every day. If you've got to contend with Metta at practice all season, some of these other NBA defenders are going to be easy pickins.

Exactly. If you look at what Randal said about playing against Metta one on one and you can see how tough it is just to score on him even at the ripe old age of 35. Most other NBA players would be cake

Yeah that was surprising to read. Of course Julius hasn't played against all the NBA talent at his position before he got hurt, with last years summer league and pre-season games but he has seen a decent sampling so far including Draymond Green who he embarrassed at least once blowing right by / through him. And for him to say 35 year old Metta's hands are the most amazing he's ever seen is impressive.

At the same time, just like you said: how many elite defenders has he seen? Now Metta's hands are incredibly fast. It was a trademark of his as a defender in the NBA. I don't think there's anyone else quite like him in the NBA now (Kawhi?) when it comes to that kind of defense. The exposure to this day after day in practice will help Randle develop into a more careful offensive player.

Not to mention in some of those in-depth pieces Julius says scoring over Metta means making a tough shot every time. Just like Kobe used to practice with guys hitting his arm, Julius is going to have to learn how to focus all the way through your shooting motion and make a shot over a tough defender. Being undersized, that's a great thing for him to get used to.

If Randle can learn to finish through contact, and he pans out to be the stud we think he can become, he's going to lead the league in and1's in the near future. Just watching his summer league highlights, dude missed SOOOOO many chippies at the rim after getting to the hoop with ease and drawing the foul.

Agreed. I know there's trepidation with a lot of players who are either too short to play inside or too slow to play outside, but I think Randle bucks the trend. He's also too fast to be stopped by slow forwards and too strong to be slowed down by quicker forwards. He's going to be a handful on the court for a long time.

Who'd you bet is "stronger", guys, Julius or Biff? I'd guess Julius upper body and Biff lower body? Maybe now, next year, 2 years from now if he keeps at it .... how about who's "stronger" Julius or LeBron? LeBron past peak now (barely?) of strength and Randle nowhere near his peak yet but strong as a "beast" and fast now. Already.

^^^ Where's Kenso ..... LOL ..... he'll have an opinion if it's about [IMG] . :Beertoast: Probably sleeping now in Poland. Hit us up when you wake up. :point:

No hell, just checked .... 8:45PM. What say you between Julius and Biff now, and at what point (how many years) is Julius in the conversation for strength with speed with LBJ? Not saying athleticism or jumping with either comparison, but also not saying Julius is not athletic. To the contrary. LBJ was just off the charts and Biff jumps out of the building. Julius if he keeps working has that speed and the needed shiftiness, like the other 2 guys, and handles to go with his strength in the open court.

    Bryant/Young/A. Brown/Metta
    Randle/Bass/Nance Jr./Kelly/ Holmes
    Hibbert/Black/Sacre/Upshaw

Room for one more for camp.

    I'm hoping for

    Russell/Huertas
    Clarkson/Williams
    Kobe/Young/Metta
    Randle/Bass/Nance Jr
    Hibbert/Black/Upshaw

with A. Brown and Holmes on the roster developing in the D-League.

Sacre and Kelly gone. I love Jabari, but I think we have too many SG's. I don't know too much about Frazier, but if Bari isn't on there, I don't Frazier will either. They could stick on the D-League affiliate.

I'd replace Holmes with Jabari. I think Jabari is underrated and a very capable player when needed. I think we end up with:

    Russell/Huertas
    Clarkson/Williams/Brown
    Kobe/Young/Metta
    Randle/Bass
    Hibbert/Black/Upshaw

Sacre and Kelly waived. Anthony Brown and Nance Jr. start in the D-League, Upshaw probably too. Waive and keep Holmes and Frazier in the D-League as well without a 15 man roster spot.

^^^ That's 15 then right? I'm still unclear on the rules, but Nance and A. Brown are guaranteed right? And even if they start in the D-League they count on the roster I thought, so that's 15. Holmes and Frazier (or J Brown) can go to the Defenders, but we hold no rights to them, correct?

Yes Nance and A. Brown would count as roster spots. In real's scenario the idea is that nobody would give Holmes or Frazier a guaranteed deal so we could stash them in the D League and see if they develop. So they wouldn't have actual roster spots.
