If Kobe is actually going to play starting SF for us this year, I would take MWP back. Just because I think it's going to be a rough go for him. MWP would give him some relief. I'm not counting on much from Swaggy P at this moment.

The only thing awkward about it is their ridiculous silence. Just answer the simple question. All it took was any of the three of them saying, "No, I haven't heard from Kobe yet, but I'm looking forward to connecting with him."

It is a lame question, but c'mon.

I kind of thought the same thing like... why didn't someone break this horrible tension? :D Just answer the question and laugh it off! They just made it worse with their reaction.

True 5? We have Hibbert and Sacre, and Black is fine there, the league isn't full of huge guys anymore. Personally I'm for a PG, no need to push our rookie too hard or rely on him too much to start or waste Clarkson there. Get a PG, we have enough bigs, if we intend to keep Sacre as 6 fouls.

I like Sacre; preferably at the end of the bench, though. Black? I've heard Byron see and now Mitch see him as more of a 4. I'm hoping Kelly and Young kill at the beginning of the year and become trade bait. We still have until February to make any roster improvements...

I don't get why people saying we need a SF. No, we don't really have traditional SF's, but we have 3 guys that will play that spot right now, Kobe, Young, A.Brown. If we keep Jabari, that's 3 SG's. We have 4 PF's, 3 C's and 1 (rookie) PG. What do the numbers say we need there? If we keep Upshaw there are no spots though, and Sacre or Kelly need to go for a PG still.

They were probably waiting amongst themselves as who was going to say something... Sure is different not that he has to or even obligated as such. I recall 24 showing up at the press conference for Odom, Grant and Butler back in 2006.

From what I gather our roster is:
    Russell/Williams
    Clarkson/J.Brown
    Bryant/Young/A.Brown
    Randle/Bass/Nance Jr./Kelly
    Hibbert/Black/Sacre

    From Mitch's and Pincus's estimation though it's:
    Russell
    Bryant/Clarkson/Williams/J.Brown
    Young/A.Brown
    Randle/Bass/Black/Kelly/Nance Jr.
    Hibbert/Sacre

    I'm seeing

    Russell
    Williams/Clarkson/J. Brown
    Bryant/Young/A. Brown
    Bass/Randle/Kelly/ Nance Jr
    Hibbert/Black/Sacre

Williams is not a PG, you want to use him as one next to Jabari and Young off the bench, good luck.

He's a combo guard. He was asked to score more in Toronto, so he did. Previously though he has been capable of spreading the ball effectively.

From 09/10 to 13/14 he averaged 3.64 assists per game. His assists to turnover ratio was 2.39:1 which is just fine for a backup PG. In Philadelphia at 23 years old he averaged 4.2 assists per game. I think he's definitely capable of playing backup PG for us as needed. Scoring might be his first instinct, but I think he'll bring more to the table than that.

I suppose you're right. I'm always going to be harping on PG though, I was the same exact way last season. When we had Nash and Lin I was yelling in every CL thread for a 3rd PG because we all knew Nash wasn't going to play and I didn't want to rely on a rookie in Clarkson. I was happy when we signed Price. I'm sort of in the same situation now if not as bad because our guys will see the court unlike Nash. I don't want to rely too heavily on a rookie in Russell though, so I hope if Williams is backup PG they split minutes. I guess Clarkson CAN play some PG if we need him to as well, I'd just like to see him be free to be a scorer. I don't think we need more size though, we've got 7 guys at PF and C right now without Upshaw.

No I hear you, I'm just saying I think Williams will surprise some of us with his ability to create for others.

I don't want to get too caught up in who plays where honestly. For me it's about creating a diverse and lethal lineup. We should always have at least one of Williams, Russell, and Clarkson on the floor at all times. That leaves limited room for another guard and Jabari is likely to make the team too. I'd absolutely love a veteran PG still behind all those guys and I'd love to shed some of the weight (Kelly and Sacre) in order to have more flexibility and make room for Upshaw's contract.

    I don't get it.

If Black is a PF, then what the hell did we pick up Brandon Bass for? Are we seriously going to have 2 PF's (Kelly's still on the squad) sitting on the pine this year?

If Upshaw isn't ready to contribute this year, then who's playing backup center? Sacre?
