I'm totally fine with that as long as there's no S&T that involves anyone not named Swaggy or Sacre..

Sure. The only problem is the "serviceable players" part.

I'd shocked if Mitch gave up one of the young core players for Hibbert and didn't get back a pick as well or something. They can't stand Hibbert over there. I'd deal with him for a year, give him a chance to redeem himself. That's what we've done with half way decent players for a year or two already. It's been great.

Seriously though, he's a defensive minded guy and when he's engaged he really changes games. He'd be a really good fit next to Randle.

He's good, he upgraded all the screws in his ankle to titanium so it's super light weight now

I'd definitely take Hibbert over Cousins if it meant not giving up one of our young core guys..

Alright. I'm going to channel my inner realdeal. We're going to be optimistic.

April 2013: Kobe torn Achilles. Life sucked, we possibly saw the last of GOAT Kobe. We thought we'd keep Dwight and try to build a team around him. Contending wasn't out of the question but it wasn't a guarantee.

July 2013: Dwight walks. Sigh of relief because keeping him, a questionable Kobe, and Pau would have put us somewhere between 5-8 in the west at best. Dwight may have compromised our future.

October 2013: At this point we're pushing for healthy Kobe, productive Pau and a shot at the 8th seed. Kobe plays 6 games and sits out the season. Oh we offer Kobe 2yr/$50M.

Jan-April 2014: We struggle. Somehow in a season where we were supposed to at least be an 8th or 9th seed, we end up with a f****ing lottery pick. That wasn't part of the plan. In comes Julius Randle, projected #1 pick at one point. We get a late 2nd rounder in Clarkson.

July 2014: Strike out on Carmelo, Pau walks, hire Byron, cool. At this point we straight up suck. But it wasn't because we planned it.....s*** just kept hitting the fan. Upcoming season not looking pretty but a lot of us penciled 35-40 wins at BEST....again not playoff bound, but not lottery bound.

Jan 2015: AFter our prized rookie has a season ending injury 14 min into his career, Kobe injures his shoulder. Out for the season. We're not winning s****. Lottery here we come. Oh btw - Clarkson goes on an absolute tear to end the season, ends up on the all-rookie first team, and suddenly we might have some young pieces.

May 2015: For f***s sake we just got handed the #2 draft pick, and WE ALMOST HAD NO CHANCE OF RETAINING THAT S***.

June 2015: Draft D'Angelo Russell. Potential game changer.

    Moral of my damn story:

We had a ton of bad luck but somehow without even TRYING, we secured 3 solid young pieces while still retaining Kobe Bryant and not intentionally tanking. We almost had no pick this year. The Julius pick fell into our laps. This wasn't planned. Then we get the #2 pick when we almost had no pick.

Sometimes it takes teams years of intentional tanking (Philly) to even rack up the assets we have. Sure we suck right now but we're close to pulling off a rebuild while still having one of the greatest players of all time and we didn't even plan this.

So there's your silver lining. We knew a rebuild was coming....it may have just happened much quicker and easier than it should have.

The funny part is if Sanders wants to play basketball and wants to be here, he'd easily be the second best C in this FA class.

Thanks for that post Chillbongo. At this point as long as we're not trading any of our young guys, all of my disappointment is over and I'm intrigued by what happens next.

I've heard a sign and trade getting the Clippers Hibbert would be EXTREMELY difficult to pull off and basically all that would be is a favor to the Clippers... Why do that when we could just work much, much easier?

I have faith that SOMETHING is going on and I have faith that no one is eager to help out the Clippers. What purpose would DeAndre, Mark Cuban, AND the Pacers have to sign and trade with the Clippers in a massive and complicated 3-Way trade?

We're have a dumpster of an off-season, it only makes sense for other teams to put their trash here.

If we didn't do that we'd be stuck with Lance Stephenson and Isaiah Thomas from last off season on overpaid contracts.

    I'd rather have Clarkson's emergence and D'Lo.

    LA Times Article .....

Scenario for Clippers to acquire Roy Hibbert appears unlikely

The Indiana Pacers have engaged the Dallas Mavericks in discussions about a three-way sign-and-trade agreement that would potentially bring former All-Star center Roy Hibbert to the Clippers, a league executive told The Times on Saturday, though the Mavericks’ motivation to complete such a deal seemed doubtful.

ESPN reported that Dallas would not be inclined to help the Clippers, a Western Conference rival, even after free-agent DeAndre Jordan agreed to leave the Clippers for the Mavericks on Friday. Jordan committed to signing a four-year, $80-million contract with the Mavericks once the moratorium on formal commitments ends Thursday.

Under the proposed three-way sign-and-trade agreement, the Clippers would receive Hibbert, the Mavericks would get Jordan and the Pacers Monta Ellis, who already agreed to sign with them for four years and $44 million.

Indiana is seeking to trade Hibbert after failing to get him to decline his player option for $15.5 million for next season by publicly implying in April he might be benched if he returned. The Pacers are expected to engage other teams for Hibbert’s services if the sign-and-trade agreement with the Mavericks and Clippers falls through.

The Clippers could pursue a separate trade with the Pacers for Hibbert involving Jamal Crawford, whose $5.6-million contract for next season recently became guaranteed, but the Clippers would need to include additional players to satisfy trade salary requirements.......

One potential replacement for Jordan was taken off the table Saturday when the Toronto Raptors reached an agreement to sign center Bismack Biyombo for two years and $6 million. A potential bid to secure Kosta Koufos could have hit a snag now that the Lakers are believed to be interested in using a chunk of their available $23 million on the free-agent center.

The Clippers can offer Koufos only as much as $2 million per season unless they are able to work out a sign-and-trade agreement with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The options continue to dwindle for the Clippers, who might have to consider an undersized Amare Stoudemire or an over-the-hill Kendrick Perkins to replace a player who had become one of the NBA’s top defenders and rebounders.
