As for the meeting still not having ended I would take it as a better sign things are going well. If it was under an hour or less than we know it was likely a pity party meeting like Mason, Ireland, and Ramona were talking about today. But it is still going on has to be an encouraging sign
God dammit... I didn't have that much expectations for the big fish, but losing against the Knicks on Robin Lopez does hit me hard... We must really be doing something wrong when trying to sell ourselves. Last year was understandable, but this year we actually had something to work with... and it's the goddamn Knicks. Ugh... I just... let's hope we can somehow turn this around a little bit and at least have some decent signings that won't help much, not have many injuries this season and have our rookies develop as much as possible through the season. It will probable (... I hope) be better than last season, but that's really not saying much. I don't even like Tobias Harris, and it seems it will be the best option... To be honest, right now I can only hope for a miracle were Aldridge or Jordan somehow chooses us against all odds. But I'm realistic enough to see that as, well, as I said, pretty close to a miracle.
Can we all just admit we aren't getting Tobias Harris...when was the last time a good RFA was signed by another team? Lets go with 10+ years
I mean if you don't get LMA or DJ to come here AND then on top of that don't do anything else, lose your own free agents and head into next season without any upgrades, that's a complete and utter failure. Three seasons in a row.... Please do something that improves this team now and for the future.
All thats pretty much left is a RFA in Harris and a couple of young centers. Yay? Oh and old veterans.
Unsolicited advice, reserve the meltdowns after our targets have signed with other teams, until then, enjoy the ride and fantasize...
sweet sassy molassey someone chose the knicks over the lakers...on a backup deal! there are no words.
It actually does happen, starting with Chandler Parsons last summer. Of course, most of the times is with huge contracts.
All I can picture is SAS on First Take just looking at the camera with the most dumbfounded look on his face and then going on a tirade, " All you got in FA was Robert SAHHHHHHHHHHHCRE, the guy is a bonafide scrub, Robert SAHHHHHHHHHHHCRE, that's disgraceful, I'm sorry Kobe Bryant, a very close friend of mine, I know his family very well, but Robert SAHHHHHHHHHCRE, and I thought the Knicks had it bad, the incompetence in the Lakers FO is unfathomable."
Lakers are just too all in on LMA or DJ for these 2nd & 3rd tier guys to wait around for us.. (*see Ed Davis)
I don't blame the Lakers though. Current roster + 2nd tier FA = 35 wins Current roster + LMA/DJ = playoffs
76ers have a roster full of centers. Lakers are doing the opposite and will play mini ball. PG: Russell SG: Clarkson SF: Kobe PF: Young C: Randle
We need a center to get a superstar PF and we call a PG when we have 2 young studs on the roster. HELLO MCFLY, MCFLY!!!!
Hard to comprehend isn't it. Our offseason might be WORSE than last years. We've lost players we scrambled to get for cheap last season. Only thing that could be worse is crawling back to Jordan Hill and having to pay him 12 mil or something when we already had him for 9. Well, that and bringing Ronnie Price back as our backup PG.
