Seems like deandre has narrowed it down to clips or mavs http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/da...ates-for-deandre-jordan-j.j.-barea-update.ece
'We can't be too mad at not getting guys like LMA or Jordan. As many have stated, we aren't talented enough yet to be an easy sell. We can be mad about wasting our time while other gettable players are being signed. However, the most disturbing part seems to be the unearned hubris of our organization. That arrogance isn't Mitch's, John Black's or Jesse West's. The arrogance is the owner's arrogance, the arrogance of those who are trying to sell the Lakers to these free agents and the general public. Consequently, I think we can all agree that, regardless of the outcomes here, the Lakers have shown themselves to be in great need of some humility, and that includes, more than anyone IMO, Jeanie Buss. For someone who apparently represents the unified voice of the Lakers, she has fallen flat more than anyone in the last two years, using decades old tactics and cheesy gimmicks that may impress an uneducated fresh out of high school bus boy, but not the average 25 to 30 year old NBA pro and millionaire who has become worldly, if not by his college education, then at least by virtue of the means and money at his disposal and being constantly surrounded by other educated and wealthy people in his circles. Maybe this is the learning curve of the post Dr. Buss era, but some learning has definitely been needed and deserved. Can't keep repeating the same mistakes, time to listen up and evolve.' Seen the above as I was reading through different things today. Thought it put this free agency and the state of the Lakers precisely where we stand as an organization...
I don't know about anyone else but DJ became obvious to me as the best possible big and best solution for center immediately after we decided to take Russell instead. Big enough and athletic enough to do battle with the biggest and best centers going forward, including Okafor when he's trying to kill us every time we play.
Well, I'm super late to this thread, but I'm pretty bummed about losing Ed Davis. I'd have been happy to keep him at that price, but good for him getting a nice deal, he earned it.
The meeting is still going, right? Another 2 hour + meeting. My feeling is Aldridge will be 'impressed' and then sign with another team.
I'm happy for Wes though. He was underrated for a long time. He finally got the recognition he deserves and POP achilles. Glad it didn't cost him his contract, also glad we aren't the ones paying him.
Yeah I tend to agree this was a make up meeting to smooth the Lakers ruffled feathers on the dialog that came out after the first meeting making them look like buffoons. Got believe there was some angry phone calls with threats about future deals for his agents other clients, and other vindictive measures of revenge. They're probably all just chilling in the room until a proper amount of time goes by, then will come out and declare the Lakers have a great plan and pieces to implement it but he's taking his talents to Riverwalk..
Please do not carelessly put 'happy' and 'Wes' in the same sentence in this thread. Makes me nervous.
Actually I think the Lakers are probably giving him a real pitch. I think they're giving it a shot and telling him who we can go get and what trades we can maybe make. Then he'll leave the meeting feeling like we aren't complete fools, but still pick the Spurs. We'll leave with a little more pride knowing we can now move on to our next get... KOUFOS!
