Did the Lakers meet up with Robin Lopez? If not, why are we not meeting with him?

We didn't meet with him because that's what LMA would have wanted, but we clearly wanted him to be offended by what we were offering so it makes sense we didn't.

I've never had a problem with Mitch, but this summer he's shown to have serious flaws. I am no longer convinced that he's the guy to lead us into the next phase of Laker greatness. He's not a salesman and that's becoming clear. He might be a genius GM in trades and a good drafter, but his stock with Free Agents is almost nothing. He's not exciting or engaging to talk to. Jeanie, really Jim but he's worse than Mitch, is supposed to be that person and she's failing.

Dr. Buss was one of the world's most engaging personalities and was able to garner trust with FAs. We don't have that right now. I don't doubt Mitch will be able to turn the team around in some way at some point in the future, but he needs to either hire someone to sell the franchise or he and Jim and Jeanie need to go. They were given plenty of time and they told us THIS was the summer it would start to turn around. Unless Russell is the next coming of Magic or Kobe, we aren't going anywhere fast.

Tell me too, why isn't Magic part of these meetings? Why is he always on vacation when we need a salesman to make our brand look good? Worthy and Mitch and Jim aren't those personalities. Kobe isn't a salesman. Magic is the best Laker salesman we could offer and he's not even remotely involved for what reason?

Yeah. Freezing out Magic is just a mistake. It's long past time for Jim Buss to mend that relaitonship.

F*** the Dodgers. He sold his share of the Lakers and moved to them because of some rift with the Buss family. If the Buss family without the great Doctor, can't sell this franchise then go find somebody who can dammit!

Good and bad. DeAndre is likely to go to Dallas or LAC.

The Lakers' are probably thinking along the same lines as that. Hibbert, Lee, Hill, and Ed Davis. KOSTA KOUFOS. Those are the names we're now looking at.

Harris' name hasn't been connected here all summer and I'm really hoping that's just because the Lakers are playing it secretly.

I was just about to type that Koufas might be our only real shot at a big. We have to resign Davis.

I'll be shocked if he goes to Dallas. They don't have a PG to get him the ball. And everyone always says how much he LOVES LA. He'll be back with Clips, just wanted some free dinners lol

I don't get it... Our FO has to realize we have an unproven team full of talented, but very young guys. Instead of trying to sell the legacy, which obviously isn't working and trying to sign all stars that don't fit with the team, they should be looking at those 2nd tier guys that will gel with the team and play their role well... Ie. Harris and Biz.

Am I crazy, or is this the most obvious way to build the team in this modern NBA? Create a good, enthusiastic and fun product, and free agents will come. Instead, we're wasting our time talking to LMA, Love and similar players we don't really need. Not to mention those 1 year contracts that don't instill any confidence in our future. Come on... Focus on the right targets and offer them something. Let's show the league we are a young, soon to be dangerous team, whose FO has vision and direction. F---!

The only guy who fits the current, out of touch reality, happens to be the coach. :banghead:

Yeah, I meant not good in the sense that THIS is exactly where the Lakers are going wrong. I get that LMA and DJ haven't officially announced yet, but you have to start making contingency plans. I know the FO normally lurks in the shadows, but in this day and age with all the social media and such, no news usually means inaction rather than the usual "lakers don't let things leak".

It's supposedly 50/50 LA and Dallas today. It was supposedly 90/10 Clippers yesterday. I have no idea what that means, but the Lakers aren't on that board. :D
