Dang it, I knew there were too many suits in the meeting. And maybe too much history in there too and not enough about direction and strategy.
I just don't see it though. Here's some good FAs next year: Which of those are coming here if we strike out this summer?
As some others have mentioned I think it's time to accept that we are in for a long "growing together" type rebuild. I have honestly always been more of a Kobe fan but I am determined to really enjoy watching our young guys grow together and send Kobe off. I'm done hitching my hopes on these free agents.
He was the focus of b-ball We were gonna build around him If he's too slow to figure that out Its his loss The presentation was showing him how to Maximize his brand but whatever Im over these free agents if they dont wanna be here then they can kick rocks Give me some players that wanna be here and want to grow with our young players At this point might as well keep our rookies and build around them and watch all the FA wanna come here when theyre balling out just so we can reject them ourselves
You don't have to be a role player if you're not a star. You can be a solid piece. I think it's more likely that Harris is the better fit, but who knows? He's an RFA. Maybe all the talk is legit and Orlando matches his offer. Then Greg signs elsewhere while we wait... Then what? Robin Lopez and nothin'?
Jordan Hill - 2 year 11 million per year with 2nd year PO Ed Davis - 3 year 8 million per year with 3 year PO Ellington - 2 year 4 million per year with 2nd year PO FA winners - Not us
That's my point. We desperately need at least add somebody this summer. I still think we can, but we've got to make our move and just go that direction. If Monroe is that move, great. If it's Harris, send the offer in asap. We just can't afford to go into this summer adding nothing, that's all. I'm seeing people saying "we can go for 1 year deals and open cap space" and I think that's a terrible idea.
Bright Side: The reports we've heard state that Cousins actually wants be a Laker (I still wouldn't trade for him though).
So now all we have to hear is Robin Lopez is signed by someone, and then there goes all the bigs pretty much.
Obviously we don't know the exact details about these pitch meetings but maybe we are focusing too much on history. At this point who doesn't know the Lakers history and legacy, you have to sell the players on the future, how you plan on building a championship team with them as a focal point. Looking at the list of FAs next year, we could very well strike out again.
Kobe just needs to shut his mouth WTF.....not exactly the best way to sell to LMA on how he'll be used here. After the 2 rings, Pau was treated like a rag doll in LA Im sure thats what LMA remembers
Agreed...enough of the 1-year deal nonsense. We need to have direction. We need someone. Even if the max is overpaying for Tobias we need a solution at a need position for the foreseeable future.
God i hope not That would suck Like @therealdeal said If we can get a fa like tobias that will make ua look attractive next season so we dont strike out again Next yr we should just play hard to get it works for san antonio
What are you talking about Rock? Aldridge would be the secondary piece that went to three straight Finals. He said it was specifically a basketball issue. He probably doesn't trust Kobe can carry a team anymore, but it wasn't a financial thing. The Lakers would obviously make it clear in the meeting they're willing to pay for him.
