sa and hou will just do what hou did with Dwight: get the agreement, then move the pieces. still don't know why Houston moved lin prior to getting bosh's word last year. that was sort of a big blunder, imo. just gotta hope the lakers pitch is strong, and that it throws some shade on what Houston and SA are going to say. for example, I'd play up his third wheel status in Houston and the fact they'll have trouble fielding a roster after clearing everyone. in SA, I'd grant their track record, but raise him ours, and I'd grant them kawhi, but raise him Russell/randle/Clarkson on rookie deals through next year (some beyond).
Rockets have to make a lot of moves to clear space. They don't have the cap room for Aldridge right now. Part of our allure is how readily we can sign him and create a playoff team. Besides who actually wants to be in Houston with Howard and that drama?
I don't know; guys like to jump at the quick fix these days, and they'd instantly become the biggest trio in the league, save maybe the three in Cleveland. and with the cap jumping next year, it's not like they won't be able to add guys around them. they're a legit threat, imo. would be a real kick to the crotch, too.
Said the same thing about Bosh last year and he turned them down. It's about the sales pitch we can give. I trust us more than I trust Morey.
Im back on the aldridge bandwagon but only if if we sign biyombo to defend the 5 Plan b deandre Plan c ed davis No to chandler, monroe, lopez
I like Biyombo, but he's not the answer at 5. Aldridge will be our center if he comes here. There's just no other way to line up what talent we actually do have better than that. LMA will likely give us a solid 3 year window. Not next season, but the one after, Randle, Clarkson and Russell will have some experience under their belt, and LMA will have help from at least one more free agent.
Why wouldn't LMA pick a team and then force a sign and trade to get the 5th year? I know the new CBA makes that tougher but I'm sure he'd love to be on a team rising AND have the 5th year. That puts all the Texas teams in the running and may explain why SA hasn't dumped their players.
Easy to say, but Portland needs to agree to it. If they don't want those players, they wont give him the extra year. There's no obligation for it.
Agree to something or nothing. It's happened and Portland could always arrange a 3 way to move their junk at the same time to begin their rebuild if LMA has told them he's gone. I wouldn't rule it out.
I wouldn't rule it out, but you've got to keep in mind that Portland plans to make a run at other max players if/when Aldridge leaves. They have no obligation to give him the extra year. If they think they can get one of those other players they won't take back contracts to help Aldridge get an extra year. They actually don't have that many bad contracts really as they already let go of Batum. Maybe if they think they can get a pick or something, but it's hard to say or predict. I think it's more likely if Aldridge walks that they just go after Kevin Love.
Supposedly he doesnt wanna play center thats why we need a defensive center. Unless they change his mind about playing the 5 then he prob wont be coming here unless we get a defensive 5 From another standpoint id rather have la at the 4 and have a 5 that strictly plays D and rebounds. It also makes our bench better
I was just surprised to see that Green was actually meeting with the Lakers. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since he actually saw him.
It seems that whatever we do this summer, it is going to be good. So many good opportunities here... Some wing players, defensive centers, backup PG... I like that we're trying to make some moves in order to have a playoff-ready team ASAP. Upshaw could be the piece we need, if he is ready to stop causing trouble and start playing some real basketball. I know it's a big if, but this could be really good. If not, I would go with Ed and Tarik, because we don't need an elite center at all. Sure, having DJ would be awesome, but that is going to be expensive. Or pay Biyombo instead. What we need from our big is simple: clean the glass, play mad defense, block some shots and dunk the ball when you can. Run with the young guys. We'll have scoring for sure, and if we sign LMA, IT's going to be crazy. But someone has to do the dirty work.
I agree. Davis/Black at C was probably the only solid rotation we had last year. I wouldn't go as far as saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but those two aren't scrubs. If we're starting Russell and Clarkson, we really need more guards.
