I dunno, seems like possibly one of the worst shooting starting lineups in the NBA. And your PG, SG, and SF are aging (or aged) and almost guaranteed to miss large chunks of time to injury.
28yr old quality role player coming off achilles surgery...Yes, Wesley. The cap is skyrocketing. But your delusions of grandeur are a tad preposterous.
Thaddeus Young opted out of his contract with the Nets.10.2 mill, expects to make more.I know the Lakers have tried to acquire him in the past. i wonder what interest they may have. He's kind of a tweener but could fill that 3 spot because of his excellent perimeter defense.
I'd dig Thaddeus as a pickup. He's still only 28 years old. He provides some solid defense and some nice all around play... But he ain't getting 12 million annually from me.
Heat Looking To Trade Mario Chalmers, Chris Andersen JUN 22, 2015 4:51 PM The Miami Heat are attempting to trade Mario Chalmers and Chris Andersen to free up salary. Andersen and Chalmers are due a combined $9.3 million next season. The Heat figure to have luxury tax issues with the expected free agencies of Goran Dragic, Dwyane Wade and Luol Deng.
Last year for the Nets in 28 games he shot 38% from deep. Respectable. But same year for MIN in 48 games he shot 29% for 3s. Horrible. Which Thad would we be getting to space the floor for Okafor?
It's a lot for sure, but they will need to pay Carroll at least that too, and if they strike out on Carroll RFAs are all that's left..
I value Carroll more than Thaddeus for our situation because Carroll is a legit SF. Thaddeus is more like a PF in a SF's body and so he isn't quite the perfect fit for us. For another team I think 12 million for Young is reasonable, but for us we need more of a SG/SF than a SF/PF... Unless that kid has room to grow like Harris.
True, He is not a floor spacer at all, but what he does do for Okafur is guard stretch 4s and 5s keeping Okafur in the paint area.
Yeah his jumper is pretty shaky. I like him a lot and I'd take him for the right price. I think he and Julius would make a really interesting forward combination... But for north of 12 million annually, I'm not sure. Someone could convince me either way.
I agree on Carroll, especially because of his 3 pt shooting to go along with solid if not great D. Crossing my fingers that's a move Mitch gets done, but if not just thinking about who's next on the big board.
I like Carroll, but I think he gets locked up in Atlanta. I'm not sure what happens with Green, but I'd venture to say a small-market team overpays him. A guy to watch out for in Free Agency is Luol Deng if he opts out of his contract. Lakers were always high on him and might take a chance. I'd still reach out to Carroll and Green, but I just don't see them in a Lakers uniform at the end of the day; hope I'm wrong...
I actually agree with you. They're not the splashy names the Lakers generally would go after. I could see them targeting guys like Deng and Thaddeus if they believe Randle is interchangeable at the SF/PF spot... But man if people don't like injury prone players we better stay away from Deng. There was a point where he was a great role player, but I think that time has passed. I'd love to get Carroll, but I see the Lakers looking either at adding an aging vet like Wade or Rondo OR going the opposite direction and getting a young dynamic RFA if they feel he's available like Harris. Sure Tobias Harris might not be a household name, but he's a solid young player and it'd give them one of those young stud type of teams that made them popular in the mid-90s. Clarkson/???/Harris/Randle/Okafor is a core all under 25 that could grow into a great team together.
