I'm getting really sick and tired of reading all these "what did the lakers expect?" type of articles regarding Byron getting fired. What we did NOT expect was a season where we had every player healthy and we somehow REGRESSED from the previous season. I'm sick of hearing that Kobe is the reason we sucked this year. I'm sick of hearing "poor byron". My God, no wonder this was a "tough" decision for the Lakers. The backlash that Jim and Mitch are receiving is unreal.

And you know what? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that JEANIE BUSS is actually the person that held us back from FIRING Scott mid-season. She wanted to keep him for another year so that we can SUCK again and when we SUCK again, she can finally have grounds to fire Jim and Mitch, bring back Phil, and hire stupid Rambis or Shaw and run triangle again. I think we need to give some credit to Mitch and Jim on this one. They knew Byron was bad when the season began. They also were smart enough to put TWO team options on his contract based on meeting incentives, which he didn't. This shows me that the Lakers were actually trying to WIN...and BYRON was trying to WIN. He really was THAT stupid. That's how bad of a coach this guy was.

I'm going to hold my breath until we hire a new coach. This is a very critical decision now. We CANNOT screw this up again. We need to be smart. NO MORE RETREADS. That includes JVG, Mark Jackson, Rambis, Dunleavy, heck at this point even FISHER. We need to go with somoene fresh or a top notch assistant like Luke, Messina, or one of the Heat's assistants. If we go college, give me Ollie, Wright or Chaka Smart. I think we are on the right path as these names are already being mentioned, or the names are being rumored to have interest in us.

Lastly, I think with Scott getting fired, it's very clear these guys are gearing up for a BIG off-season. They knew having Scott in meetings would NOT Help their chances in free agency. I think with the timeline that Jim Buss has given....I could see us going all in on free agency...meaning I could see us trading all the young talent away for Jimmy Butler and Cousins type of players....and then landing two max FA's in KD and Derozan/Conley/Horford or something like that.

And even if we don't go all in....we're going to be in a MUCH MUCH better position to sell FA's like Whiteside and Barnes on our future with a solid coach in place.

This is great news indeed! Ollie is right there at the top for me. Honestly, I'd take him over Luke. More experience and I think he'd be GREAT at developing the young guys. This kind of made my day, hearing that he'd seriously consider it! Sounds like the timing might just be right both for him and for us. Wow! Glad he is in our radar and that he might be available!

I am a little hesitant on the Luke hype train, but my concerns would be alleviated if a solid, experienced assistant team was brought in to lift him up (much like Kerr had in his first year). Also, wouldn't mind seeing Ollie as our first choice (something completely fresh for our fresh start is VERY appealing...no Laker ties, not an NBA re-tread, has that KD luring bonus), or maybe even Blatt as a third option. So for the biggest names being thrown around atm:

    1. Ollie
    2. Luke
    3. Blatt

The only two guys on that list under the age of 50 are Luke and Ollie. Since this is a young team, I'd like to see maybe 1 or 2 more guys under 50.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Jeff Hornacek actually. He got a raw deal in Phoenix when his 2 best players went down (Bledsoe and Knight) but he did get the Suns almost to the playoffs with a roster that was projected to be in the lotto (this was when they had dragic, bledsoe and gerald green leading the way).

But I would prefer Ollie. In fact, as I'm thinking about it more and more....I think Ollie is my top choice ahead of Luke. I like that he's had success...has respect amongst NBA Players....understands the new age of bball....he's young..oh and how about those ties to KD and Westbrook?

Thompson and Trudell on the radio right now, Mychal is all in on either Walton or Ollie. I agree.

Mason is in for Ollie over Luke. Ireland says the coaching hire will be done sooner than later.

Ireland said Thibs they liked but no way they were going to give him the Wolves type deal with control. He just said also that JVG wants the Thibs deal so he's out of the running. I'm relieved to hear that.

I like ollie or luke, slight edge to ollie. Not sure if Luke is completely ready to run a team and a coaching staff.

JVG would definitely demand full cont3ol, just like his brother got in Detroit.

I'd take him in a heartbeat, but pretty sure there's no chance of that happening.
