I'm STOKED. Hell, maybe Silver called Mitch and was like, "Listen man. We need the Lakers, you can't suck donkey balls anymore, it's bad for the business. I got your pick covered, just get rid of that dumb f*** you call a head coach. Peace." Now... anyone but Rambis and/or Dunlevy please.

We just need to give it time for everyone to see and celebrate. Once that's done, we can have that sweet sweet release of moving this to the non Lakers NBA section.

Best possible start to our offseason. Now hopefully we can keep our pick. Onwards and upwards.

My first choice would be Ettore Messina followed by Luke Walton.

Ettore isn't necessary the flashy pick but the guy understands player development, was an assistant with us before, learned more under popovich, and by all accounts is a pure workaholic coach who just gets it.

I am concerned that Luke may not be ready and if he did become our coach I think it would come to a shock with him in regards to the level of talent he has been used to (Warriors) and then coaching our team. I could see that being hard for him the first year or so.

I'll be happy once I see who we sign next.

Firing Byron is huge and many might say: "I would take anyone ahead of him". But truth is, at least he was on the fence of getting fired. Now if we sign another crap coach, he is gonna be here for at least 2 years which makes it hard to endure.

Keep your fingers crossed...a great start into the off-season.

Pat Riley to return to Los Angeles and the Lakers bench as a head coach, then likely to transition into similar role he has had with the Heat after Jim and Mitch move on.

Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but this is definitely true. Putting up with one more year of Byron would probably be better than 3 guaranteed years of Mark Jackson.

I don't trust at all our decision for the next coach. I tremble in fear imagining something like Mike Dunleavy... but that said, even Mike Dunleavy would be an upgrade over Byron Scott! (ouch)

At this point, I think Jim Buss's barman is a better option than Scott. So whatever happens, it is an improvement.
