The worst coach in the league coaching the worst season in laker history and they're not sure they want to part ways with him? Am I missing something here? This is beyond ridiculous.

Knowing Thibs wants Presidential control cools the burn on this, but some things now are just abundantly clear:
    1. The FO is a f***ing mess.
    2. Woj is making news out of the Lakers' demise. It's within his rights, but boy it stings.
    3. The "Byron is staying" line isn't bull****. It's the truth. It's what this horrible franchise thinks is the right move.
    4. My fandom is on the ropes. If this continues, I'll still come post here but I can't support this franchise. I won't watch so they lose viewership, I won't go to games, I won't buy merchandise. I hope they fade away into the background somewhere. I hope they become the Clippers. That's the only way this franchise will right the ship and put people in charge that know what they're doing. Assuming they make no moves this summer with the FO and coaching staff, it's what needs to happen so that this franchise can be successful again.

I'll restore a little faith if the Lakers FO somehow manages to get Luke, but if nothing happens, they should all be:

So first the winningest coach in history wanted to coach our team...and we passed for D'Antoni. Now we have a top 3-4 coach (the best defensive coach) wanting to come here...and we stick with literally the losingest coach in NBA history. I would take Mike Dunleavy at this point....not long term, but next season instead of Byron.

Kobe is off into the sunset and now the collective Laker fan-base has to deal with this crap...

My fandom has been on the ropes this season. I've watched less than half the games this season, first time in years I have allowed that to happen. The only way I would invest fully if at all in next season is if (1) Boron is gone. Any coach will definitely be better then what we have now. (2) if Boron is still here and by some unlikely, some insane, some unexplained out of this world reason we manage to land Durant. Or (3) this wouldn't be manifest until part way through the season obviously, but Boron gets a dose of inspiration and intelligence and turns into a manifestation of a coach of the year and we have an actual winning record. Right now all three are less likely to happen.

I'm going to keep telling myself that the Lakers didn't really have a shot at Thibs because the roster wasn't attractive enough and that Thibs was looking for full control, something that many teams aren't willing to give, not just the Lakers. I mean if we weren't willing to give Phil full control, then I doubt we would be willing to give Thibs that. The twolves also went and hired Scott Layden as GM, you know, the guy that basically RUINED the New York Knicks. He's a great scout but he's a TERRIBLE GM. I know everyone is going nuts over the Thibs thing, but I think he had his eyes on Minny all along and the personnel there, not to mention a future sure fire SUPERSTAR in Towns (something we don't currently have on our roster), is just better than our personnel.

Also, Pincus said that Thibs crossed us off his list a while ago. I want to believe that was the case. I have a hard time believing that we didn't even entertain Thibs.

Now the thing that I can't excuse is the KINGS interviewing Luke and we aren't....what the HELL are we doing? We cannot be sitting around waiting for things to "die down" and THEN talk to Scott informally...fire him..and then every marquee coach is GONE!!

I had already lost faith in this FO but right now, with the amount of coaches flying off the board....just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...it does.

I don't even want to comment in-depth on this, because I'm too angry. I just want it to be known that I read this, I'm following this situation, I'm taking it all in. Enjoy and empty Staples Center and huge dip in tv ratings next season when you strike out on all free agents because you kept B0ron. They're dooming themselves, they deserve whatever they get. Love Randle, love Russ, love JC and Nance, but I'm not watching next season if that's our whole team and we have the same coach.

Damn I can't rhyme until the sun don't shine, might as well quit posting online,
These idiots in the FO are taking us for granted, doing things that are not wanted,
Must implement the Boyscott without mercy, hurt the damn Buss' wallet as a fan policy,
No more Laker merchandise for me, until to the garbage bin Boron we'll see...

Hmmmm. I'm not trippin, yet. Thibs with personnel control; I don't think so. I'm find with letting Mitch handle personnel, the draft, and free agents. Where we are really hurting is with our fractured ownership; Jeanie and Jim being divided, showing no leadership, and both wanting to take the franchises in two different directions. We've withstood bad coaches in the past and have overcome it with Dr. Buss at the helm; I'm not confident we can overcome this with Jeanie and Jim at the helm just yet. I'll wait to see how things play out.

    I know it's a pipe dream
    And Byron, it's kinda scary
But I'm going to ask you to take one for the team
    And commit coaching Hari Kari

The insane thing regarding how we got here is that it's just a domino effect from the very first coaching blunder the front office made back in 2012 when they decided to hire Mike D'Antoni over Phil Jackson.

In a alternate universe if they hired Phil instead, in all likelihood we wouldn't be in the situation we are in now. There wouldn't have been a D'Antoni to fire only to hire Byron. Kobe may have never tore his Achilles from carrying an impossible load and would have actually been able to retire this season on possibly a playoff team... We also wouldn't have d'angelo or Julius on this roster because we would have never been that bad. With Kobe retiring from a playoff caliber team in this same alternate universe, the upcoming free agency would be more attractive to the likes of Kevin Durant (appeal of taking over for Kobe may be more realistic if you aren't coming to a 17 win team).

I think..... Jeanie thinks all of this and obviously blames Jimmy for the path the Lakers are on. Unfortunately, it sounds like Jeanie wants to just prove her point further by actually backing Byron and saying, "jimmy this the guy you hired, live and die with your choices".

Laker fans across the world have to suffer over this family feud.

I remember when i read that piece about Jeanie. About how succesful she was in every business she run and how proud Dr. Buss was of her. I thought to myself, damn, we're in good hands, she realy is her father's daughter.
But now, everything says she's wayyy over her head. Does she even realize how big of a leverage Luke has? He knows we're screwed... while Buss kids still live i LaLa Land. If i was him i would make sure, i'm the highest paid coach in the NBA.
