    Chicago has a very high % of guys in the top 10 in terms of minutes and MPG over the five years Thibs was coaching. Especially early, and then none of them were able to make it into the top minutes over the course of the season, even as they played ridiculously high MPG. I think there's smoke here.

    2010
    Minutes leader: Ellis: 3227
    Chicago had two guys over 3000 minutes: Deng: 3208 (2nd), Rose: 3096 (9th)
    MPG Leader: Ellis 40.3. Chicago had two guys at 37+: Deng: 39.1 (4th), Rose 37.4

    2011
    Leader: Durant 2546. Chicago had Deng at 2129 minutes, but they had Boozer and Noah at 1945+ each.
    MPG Leader: Deng 39.4, and Rose was also at 35.3.

    2012
    Leader: Lillard 3167. Deng led the Bulls at 2903. But injuries kept these numbers lower.
    MPG Leader: 38.7 (Deng), Noah 36.8, too. He missed 16 games.

    2013
    Chicago's leader was Noah (2820), but injuries again mattered here...
    Butler's 38.7 MPG were 2nd, Deng was at 37.4, and Noah was at 35.3.

    2014
    Chicago's leader was Gasol with 2681, but again injuries mattered...
    Butler was 3rd in the NBA at 38.7, Gasol at 34 years old was at 34.4, and Noah struggled with injuries. Rose was deep into his injuries, but he still played 30 a night.

    I think it's arguable that he played Deng, Rose, Noah, Butler, and Gasol too many minutes. Since those are essentially his five best players, I think that's a mistake on his part.

    So Tarik Black at least today seemed to be getting some of his timing and swag back. Busting his a** all over the floor mid 2nd quarter against Houston, contesting shots, running the floor, showing some of the athletic offensive moves and coordination again that were interspersed in his last year's highlight reel, picking and rolling and finishing like he knows what he's doing. Like he would have been doing this year with encouragement and development instead of being buried on the bench most of the year by Boron the a-hole. Nance is playing great too and Houston's lead is almost gone.

    So Boron kills all that momentum by mandatorily sticking Hibbert back in who has been dropping and fumbling the ball like Kwame Brown and stumbling around like a drunken sailor out there, and soon after Ryan Kelly. WTF is Kelly getting any of Nance or Randall's minutes???, and Black was clearly more effective and more mobile out there than Hibbert. Momentum is killed on the spot and their lead goes back up to end the half. Swear to god this guy is a fool.

    I was listening to Worthy try to defend him on the PMS show a couple days ago. Worthy says they do the right things in practice, but never in the games and Worthy doesn't understand why. It was pretty awkward as Matt Smith basically said, a new coach can come in and make a team instantly better on defense. It happens all the time. Byron has had two years and we are worse now than we ever were. Worthy kind of just tried to wiggle out of it putting the blame on players again.

    There's no way you can say our players are great in practice execution but not in games without putting down the coach. It's mental preparation. IF our guys go in properly prepared (film, etc) they have studied their man, they know what their game is, then they at least have some idea of what to expect which boosts confidence. If the coach is saying well they won't listen in film and prep then bad coach, get one that commands attention. I know really young players can be unruly and they don't naturally want to conform to systems. A good youth coach is a specialist in getting them to do so. I just don't get how Mitch and Jim are coming to completely different conclusions than everyone in this forum. Are these Showtime homers putting rose-colored glasses on everyone? It's time to clean house.

    If Boron comes back, I might have to take a 1 year break from watching Laker games. I don't know if my sanity can handle another season of the worst coach in NBA history.

    And I just got an ESPN report that the rockets have strong interest in Thibs and Brooks. We hang onto Scott another year and I am gone. I'll be here to talk movies, other NBA teams, politics, but F the Lakers is Scott isn't fired, I'm not putting up with it.

    Bringing him back would set a new low for our franchise and FO, sad part is I wouldn't be too surprised if they did this. They have not shown anything to give us any faith.
