I don't know if we have one, I couldn't find it but this guy is steadily earning his own thread. His shooting touch is really pure, one of the better forms and shots I've seen in a Laker uniform. His role as instant offense off the bench is fantastic. I love when he comes in because we run a quick screen set and he gets a wide-open shot almost every time and it's usually nothing but net. When Young comes back we could end up having a pretty decent bench scoring unit. If Randle hadn't broken his leg we could have had a really potent bench unit actually. As things stand, once Young returns I'd like to see more Ellington in the games. We have a hard enough time creating shots. Having Wayne in the there gives us another dimension that really helps move things along. He's not a great defender, but he's not awful either. Using just my eyes I'd say he's done about as a good a job as can be expected of him. I think he's definitely earned more minutes than Xavier at this point, especially since Xavier still hasn't gotten himself up to speed yet.
Sir Duke has been shooting lights out. Nice to see him get his props, realdeal. Good stuff. He had a horrid preseason but has gotten himself completely on track since. He's been very good. His form is really good like you said and if he gets open watch out. I like him.
Mitch doing more good work in the bargain bin. Ellington has a chance to be another one of those names we want to maybe keep around as we rebuild.
At this point I'd put him in for longer stretches instead of Wes. He's just giving us so much more in the time that he's in.
Maybe all he needed was a knock on his head. JK. Seriously though, had he not had that concussion, it's very possible he would've been cut after preseason based on his performance. He basically got a second chance and he's definitely making the most of it. We get Young back, we'll have at least a couple of knock down 3 point shooters that we can take advantage of.
He knows his role, and he was really grabbing boards last game. I love that kind of player - do what you're supposed to do, hustle, and don't get a big head.
I thought he was trash in the pre-season but like I stated in a thread somewhere, I think in a thread on CL... was that he probably had too much pressure and butterflies trying to make the squad but obviously mustve been around due to most likely was showing up in practice which seems to be finally translating on the court. Lets see what he can do next two games versus MEM/SAS, possibly two teams that will be in the WCF.
This is what you want when players on a team go down with injuries. Someone who will step up and help carry the load, and Wayne has done that.
Ellington shouldn't be taking Clarkson's minutes. He should be taking Wes' minutes by sliding Kobe to starting SF. SGs: Ellington/Clarkson SFs: Kobe/Wes/X (moving Young to backup sg and sf when he gets back)
Couldnt agree more @Punk-101 . Seems like Clarkson is in the keep practicing and observing bandwagon. Looks like unfortunately only way he gets playing time is if Henry/Wes arent able to go or something.
Duke comes in, plays hard, gives us 8/3... nothing to complain about. He's a solid role-player for this team, and he is young too.
