Which is funny that so many people want to,or should say are desperately trying to make themselves believe hes the starting PG of the future. Which IMO, just for the simple fact of what I believe IMO,what he once was. I admit ,still has more potential to grow,but if he cant do it on a consistent basis than hes gone... should definitely be a make or break for him.
If second half Lin can do that on an every night basis,improves his grit on defense a bit more, I definitely wouldnt mind resigning him to a fair deal. Pulling for you, but we cant help those who cant help themselves. Dig deep Linny!
The second half was the starting point leading to this.. I feel like he had WAYYYYY too much pressure on himself being next to Kobe, and Kobe said it himself about Lin. I feel he broke the barrier and got confidence in his belly now.
Can't really be consistent when you're running mates are Boozer and Wes, 5 games into a season with completely new players, and playing with a alpha SG like Kobe. Simple fact. He's a point guard that needs proper spacing and you can see that he really excels when he's in there with Ellington and Davis.Those guys give him options and allow him to attack because defenders don't want to leave their man. He's a proper PG for this Lakers squad because he isn't ball dependent. He can take what's given to him and WILL defer to a star if needed, unlike most PG's who tend to want to take over. He's a possible future starting PG because he also won't be commanding big money. He'll most likely be a less than mid-level type deal and that's perfect for when we go after the big stars. And skillwise, he is probably the most talented PG we've had in awhile. That's not saying much, but hey, it's a start.
This is all true in an ideal world. The key though is keeping this up. If he can't continue being the Lin we saw last night, then he's a bench player plain and simple. He needs to get to the rim early and often. He needs to hit that three pointer fairly consistently. He just needs to be aggressive. What we saw last night as perfect. With some better pieces, I could see him being the starter. Unfortunately consistency has been a problem for him in his young career. Hopefully he can overcome that. I said it elsewhere, but watching him get pumped up after that three was fantastic. It was like a weight off his shoulders. I know he wants to be humble, but you can get fired up and still be humble. You can ride your emotions and still be in control. Durant does a great job of being a killer on the court and understanding how lucky he is off of it. Lin can do that too he just needs to find the balance. Loved what I saw from him last night though.
Loved what I saw from Lin last night. I hope he continues to play that way. Only thing that I noticed is that he isn't good when he shoots off the dribble. He is more of the spot up shooter. If he sticks to that he will be fine. Also, I like how he keeps staying aggressive driving to the hoop.

I think these next two games versus Conley and Parker will tell us a WHOLEEEEEE LOT about Lin to be honest and what hes made up out of. If he shows up and ofcourse, the rest of the team has to as well for him to be fully effective to his natural ability than im in for a fair team friendly extension. Agree?
Honestly it's going to take a little more time for him (and the rest of the guys) to get used to each other. He definitely shows what he's capable of in certain games-so far only in preseason and against Charlotte, maybe I 'm missing another decent performance in there. When he' s having a good game, everyone seems to pick it up... Except Wes of course. I guess I 'm still not sold on him. But compared to other guard acquisitions we' ve had he's definitely shown the most promise. Just my two cents.
So if he balls out next two games, like you mentioned WITHOUT having the time to gel and the team clicking on all cylinders(truly maximizing their talents)... What does that mean?
Says the guy that has LIN-NING as his profile picture huh? lol, I like it though. Not jumping the gun like a lot of others. Well after the next couple games, almost 1/10th of the season will be gone With the type of season were having with everything being considered as far as new coach,system,players, etc... Shoot, we should evaluate the team on a 1/10th basis lol.
It would mean he can string together a few solid performances and is building confidence as a leader. I'd love that.
lol, i just thought it was funny to have a guy with a lin-ning sign, not that I'm some Lin superfan. I have my fair share of criticisms for Jeremy too. But, give this team, and Jeremy, some time to get acclimated to each other. And less time on the floor next to Wes.
Lin mentioned that one of his struggles is finding a balance. I'm glad he mentioned that because that's something Nash was a master at (arguably the best ever), and I hope Nash mentors Lin on this subject. Basically, everyone wants Lin to be aggressive. He himself wants to be aggressive, but that doesn't mean that he should be driving the ball all the time. He can do that if he wants, but that's not how basketball works. He needs to find a way to get everyone involved by letting everyone touch the ball. You touch the ball and dribble it a bit, and suddenly, you feel more engaged. You feel more confident. You're more alert about what's happening. Sometimes, that requires taking a backseat. As the PG, Lin needs to find a balance that maximizes everyone's efficiency on offense and gets them more engaged on defense. It's not always about the individual matchup.
