This is about what I'm expecting 16/10, the ability to pull the ball down and lead a break. That seems reasonable. 25 and 12 makes him a Hall of Famer.
He might have been doing 16/10 by the end of this season, his rookie year, if Boron hadn't f***** him just like Boron did Russell.
Some other Randle rebounding numbers... Contested Reb per game - 3.6 - Number of rebounds a player gets when another player is within 3.5ft - 18th in the league for qualified - 1st is Drummond at 6.6 - He could jump to 4th with 1 more contested rebound per game so 18th isn't "bad" Uncontested Reb per game - 6.5 - Number of rebounds a player gets when no player is within 3.5 ft - 11th in the league for qualified - 1st is DJ at 8.7 - He could jump to 4th with 1 more uncontested rebound per game Contested Reb percentage - 35.5% REB chances - 17.9 - Number of times player is within rebound (3.5 ft) - 12th in the league for qualified - 1st is Drummond at 22.7 - If there is a rebound to be had, Julius is more than likely to be there. REB chance percent - 56.5% - Percentage rebounds a player gets out of the total number of defensive rebound chances Deferred Reb chances - 2.8 - Chances a player lets rebound go and it goes to a teammate - 16th in the league for qualified - I took this as he doesn't chase 3 boards for stats *Note - Almost all the guys ahead of him (Aside from Whiteside) are getting 30+ minutes a night. Julius is at 27.7 mpg
Yep most of them are centers. Usual suspects ahead of him...... Drummond, Whiteside, DJ, DMC, Howard, etc. As a PF, he is holding his own with the some of the best rebounding centers in the game.
I'm not questioning his rebounding. I am saying that people seem to be overestimating how common it is to score 25ppg, particularly as a pf. even the number of 20/10 guys in the league at any given time is much lower than I think people realize. usually a handful, if that. saying randle is a sure thing to reach that mark is being pretty amazingly optimistic. super cool if it happened, though.
Boo!! He's capable and delivering 15 or more this season ...... but for Boron the a-hole ..... on puny man boy muscle. Not tight, thick, solid man muscles 4-5 years from now. (You know the "muscle" drill here ). The guy could be conceivably with a good coach and his hard work effort to keep pace with Clarkson and Russell ..... be another (in reasonably similar ballpark) young Charles Barkley.
If he improves his jump shot I'd say 20 points is pretty realistic. He's already a double digit scorer and he hasn't even reached a fraction of what he's gonna be.
If he suddenly develops an offensive game, yes. Russell is already a way more dynamic scorer, he's a better shooter than Randle will ever be, and it's not likely that he'll be a 25 PPG scorer. Maybe he will, but it's not likely. Keeping these things in perspective - it's important.
I don't see any reason to think Randle won't. He's a relentless worker. His jumper while still not good looks far better than it did at the outset of the year. He's not only learning how to use his off hand, but how he can get back to his strong hand and going quick into his shot so it's not as high of difficulty a shot. I'm not sure Russell can't be either. He's basically been averaging that since the Sll Star break. Small sample size, but once he gets stronger that will allow him to take and create contact better as well.
I had to replay that driving one handed dunk of his in the first half like 3 times before I finally saw it go through the net. It happened so quick and at first glance didn't even look like he got it over the rim. Like everything else he's improving, he's starting to also take it to the rack for one handed jams in traffic occasionally now too, to go with the two handers. Woot woot!!
He was dominant in that first half particularly with 10 and 6, that monster jam down the lane and that sweet right hand finish in traffic as well. I notice that he just doesn't really get plays called for him much. A lot of the time (ala the second half) he's just off to one side and doesn't touch the ball. They need to get him more integrated into the action. Still a strong overall game with 15 points on 6 of 10 and one board shy of another double double.
Byron let he and Jordan sit for way too long and let the bench play for some reason. Why? We weren't likely to win even if the kids played major minutes and why wouldn't you let the kids play without Kobe for a while? They'd been successful the last two games... *sigh* Still the growth this young man has shown has been all kinds of impressive. I still would like to see him work on his jumper and his defensive awareness is still bad. He has a comfort level getting to the rim creatively and rebounding the ball, I'm eager to see him get comfortable passing the ball and helping defensively.
I think Julius can be a 17 and 11 type of player. The guy is so strong and he's just a much better, hungrier rebounder than I thought he was going to be. His offense is still raw as one can expect for a first year NBA, one year college player. He's got a LONG way to go. But even then he's already improved a ton from the beginning of the year. I don't know if he'll ever be a knock down shooter. But he should be able to be very effective with the ball with his quick first step, his strength in the post, his spin moves, and his continued work on his off hand. Now I'd really like to see him also work on that step back I've seen at times. That could be a good go-to move if he gets it down, something I could see improving his shooting percentage so that he doesn't always have to recreate the wheel out there in the post. He's also dynamite when he grabs the defensive board and pushes the ball. He was doing more of that in the beginning of the year but I think he's been instructed to slow it down more to be more controlled, which is ok at least for now. If we had a more dynamic offense utilizing our youngsters next year where we pushed tempo, Randle's points and assists will go up I believe, playing more of an Odom/Draymond Green type role. His rebounding numbers are remarkable though.
