I strongly agree with this. Loved them as players, but this is unacceptable. Fire Byron, hire Luke, simple as that. And let's see some modern basketball for change while developing our young guys instead of "messing with them" because "it's fun".

Yep. They are now firmly in the "get off my lawn" territory.

Something disheartening: John Ireland on AM710 said he believes Byron Scott won't be fired next year. Says he listened to Jeanie Buss on an Amick podcast and got the feeling that she is not going to interfere with any basketball operations for another year, thereby sticking to Jim's deadline (I honestly don't remember what year we are in of his supposed ultimatum).

It's all very he said/she said, but it was still annoying to hear Ireland say that.

Next season is the last. If they aren't in the Western Conference Finals next season, Jeanie basically said she'd fire her brother and probably Mitch.

If they want to be in the WCF next season, or need to be to save their jobs, why would B0ron not be fired. If you're trying to win he's got to go. The narrative right now is that he's here to ensure that pick because he's so bad and doesn't even know it himself, that he's being used as a tool and is a tool. If you then want to win next season he needs to be fired the day after the season ends, and you need to hire a coach that's respected and has credibility, otherwise you aren't attracting ANY free agents of quality. I don't think Ireland knows anything.

That's not really disheartening. That's just his opinion. I don't think you can tell from a podcast if Byron is gonna lose his job or not. Jeanie isn't gonna come out and say that they're gonna fire him.

Yea, it's just that Ireland is in the thick of things and has his ear to the ground on a lot of the issues. I can't remember what it was exactly, but I know Ireland accurately predicted something else (can't remember if it was related to Brown, D'Antoni, or Dwight). Doesn't mean he's right though, like you said.

He might be right, I'm just hoping like hell he's not. I'm hoping Jim and/or Mitch can't really be that stupid or have their heads so far up their a**** that they can't see how historically bad of a coach that B0ron is and that no one is coming here this summer to play under him. If they don't fire him, then they must be tired of their jobs and want to get fired too, because that's a guarantee with B0ron as coach next season. It would take a miracle to make the WCF with any coach next season (some HUUUUUGE offseason signings and injuries to the other top teams in the West), but it is an impossibility to make the WCF next year with our current coach.

Like it was said, these remaining games are an audition for Scott. That hasn't changed. Why do you think he is changing so much now, actually playing Princeton sets, actually playing DAR?

But now there are even media outlets praising Scott and saying that "this was the plan all along", ruin Russell so he can be built back up, in essence boot camp. If that's necessary to instill humbleness and get your player to respect your authority then you just don't have a coaching personality. And anyways, does DAR seem humble to anyone now? No, not really. He has confidence verging on cockiness and who cares. Much worse to have someone with introversion. That's how DAR can score 39 in his rookie year and Scott couldn't his entire career. You don't try and suppress a player like that. Maybe he's a bit of a show-off but big deal. It's killer instinct with an attitude and it works for LA's big lights anyways.

The NBA's level of play can take care of itself in the humbleness department. Throw him in the fire and let him get burned, it will have the same effect. Anyways Byron can't hold him back now. Hopefully. Then again, look what he's done to Swaggy for months now. Who knows what the jacka** will do.

I don't "sports-hate" Byron anymore. I legitimately hate him. He's an awful person and an imbecile.

Looking at some Bulls numbers, mainly W/L...

The two seasons prior to Thibs being there they were a 41 win squad. The 5 years he was there he bumped them up to a 51 win team on average. Season he leaves they are looking at being back at 41 wins.

Coincidence? I don't think so. If you have a coach out there that can give you +10 wins just through coaching why wouldn't you pursue that? Especially if your goal is to compete for the WCF with a self imposed timeline.

Byron stays next year, Mitch/Jim/Byron will all be looking for employment and that is pretty much a lock.

What's the status with our draft pick? If we keep it this year, does it go to Philadelphia automatically next year? The only possible rationale to keep Byron is if we wanna tank again next year and that would be devastating to the Laker brand.

I still think it's all media posturing. Obviously we're not gonna fire Byron with a month left in the season. I actually don't think we "fire" him at all. I think he "steps down" in the off-season and we clean house in the front office. It would just be so foolish to hold on to such an incompetent relic of the past past as we try to move forward in the post-Kobe era.

We have the same protection on it next season (1-3) and then after that it goes to Philly 100% in 2018.

We also owe our 2018 pick to Orlando BUT if we keep the pick this summer AND next summer then instead of a 1st round pick we give Orlando our 2018 2nd and 2019 2nd rounder. The 2018 pick we owe to Orlando is actually Top 5 protected as well.

With DAR and Randle blowing up these last games and the reported or rumored contact to the front office from their agents it seems like there could be another Westhead situation brewing if in fact Jim is planning on bringing back the a-hole with the worst record in NBA history. These guys, especially Russell, have juice now. DAR in his read between the lines comments clearly has had it with him.

It's more than +10 in our case because you have to take into account the games Byron is costing us. Thibs is a +25 win coach here.
