Before I comment, I figured I'd say that I enjoy Mike and Mike. I can't f***ing stand Bill Simmons. I think Simmons is right about the point - we've all been saying it here. LeBron looks different. I'll go further; it LOOKS like he's off PEDs, but I don't know that he is, and I wouldn't ever accuse him of that. I might well ask him if I had the chance, but I wouldn't accuse the guy without info. And that, by the way, is where Golic is right. Simmons does like to say stupid things to grab headlines. He seems to think he's particularly insightful and/or clever. I've never been able to stand him, and while I think he's right about LBJ, it's only news because he said it at ESPN.
I can't stand Mike & Mike. Hot air and lot's of it. Simmons is a C bag tool, but he knows much more about basketball than both Mikes combined. I respect your caution, but it's painfully obvious LeBron was on PEDs and had to clean up his act this year. I don't doubt Simmons is focusing on it for self promoting purposes, but I'm glad he is saying it no matter what his agenda is.
Golic clearly knows football, and that's what I want to hear him talk about. I'm not sure what Greenberg knows, sports-wise, and I don't think of Simmons as particularly astute about the game of basketball either.
Simmons has marketed himself a basketball expert and I believe in some ways he is one. I think he's a good historian of the game and he's a fairly sharp guy. I don't know that I'd trust him to even comment critically about players the way some people here on LB do. I also think he embodies the pompous C bag fan to a tee. He thinks he's much more clever than he actually is. That being said he's completely correct in this. I hate the M & M show when it comes to anything other than football. Then again that's true for almost every single major ESPN host. Cowherd knows next to nothing about any other sport besides football (and he knows very little about football too). Simmons is a complete blowhard, but he stands by his opinions usually. He's right to question the way that LeBron has looked. 100% right. If we as fans can see that LeBron looks different, what can an "expert" see? I didn't see him actually insinuate anything about PEDs in LeBron, but the fact that people are starting to inch closer to that... I love it. It's obvious and I'd love for his whole brand to crash the way they buried Kobe for his indiscretions. It's about time to do it now. Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant look like the kinds of kids the NBA can get behind while burying the Chosen One.
Side note: I listen to Cowherd in the morning on the way to class, he knows little outside of football and usually just rambles about stupid stuff. Usually change the station when he starts talking about basketball though. Lebron has clearly looked different this season, and I would love it if something came out that he was using PED. I wonder if the media will make excuses for him them or bury him like they did Kobe.
Cowherd cannot go 5 minutes without saying a quarterback's name, even in the off season. Current or retired, doesn't matter, he will mention one just listen.
Yes, we all hate Bill Simmons the C Bags fan. But as an ESPN employee, I love his stance on everything besides how he diminishes Kobe. Dude has the balls to drop F bombs and go off on rants about Roger Goddell on a podcast. Now this. I love it.
Screw all of em. And especially Billy Simmons. If what Golic said was so harsh or out of context why not do the same thing he said Golic should of done? Call the show and go at him about it? Nope, lets rant on the twitterwebs. All of ESPN's employees are star searching and it waters down anything that resembles actual reporting of sports. The fact that no one has openly questioned if LBJ was using PEDs is asinine. The guy lost 30lbs of muscle in like a week and half. I know crackheads who didn't lose that much in 4 times the time LBJ lost his weight.
Well said. I cant stand either of them (Mikes or Simmons) but Simmons is spot on here. Bron looks like a shell of his former self in terms of explosiveness. It's painfully obvious he got off the juice this off season. The media (espn) will never talk about it but everyone can see it. That doesnt mean Lebron still cant be effective, but he hasnt shown the skill level yet to be able to adapt to his new limitations.
Forgive my naivety, but why did LeBron have to get off the roids this year? Is the NBA now testing for it? And yes, I've always felt he was on them. Linebacker body on the hardwood. Cleveland is in trouble if he can't get back on the juice.
The rumor is that testing is coming. It's a courtesy (read: protecting your bottom line) to let the stars know ahead of time.
There were multiple rumors of testing coming. Next thing you know Carmelo and LeBron look slimmer than ever.
