Right there with you on this. Byron was once one of my favorite Lakers. Now I pretty much despise him and can't stand to look at him on the sidelines. He's simultaneously running Kobe in the ground while doing everything he can to ruin our young guys. He is easily the worst coach in the league and its way past time for us to let him go.

I think he is a goner after the all-star break. The big problem is who do you get to fill in? Worthy? Madsen? If you go that route who do you have as an interim head coach and who will take explicit instructions to play the youngsters until their legs fall off? Will Worthy do that?

Or do you get a proven coach such as Thibs right now? The question is will there be anyone better on the market in the offseason compared to the guys that are available now?

I think you go the interim route with Madsen until the offseason. For one, the young guys have played under him since summer league, so they have a longer and more continuous relationship with him than Worthy. Also, I think Mark would have less of an ego than James, and would be more likely to follow management's orders and play the young guys heavy minutes.

Once the offseason rolls around, then you quickly set about finding a full time coach. With both the Pro and College seasons in the books, you'll ideally have a wider pool of candidates available.

If he's trying to win games then he's magnificently incompetent. Putting your 37 year old, banged up, former great player in the game after he's already icing himself down? How is that going to get the job done? Your young players have kept you in the game in the 4th, but let's go to the 37 year old, banged up, literally cold former great.

If he's trying to win why are D'Angelo and Randle playing only 20ish minutes a night? We're vastly more effective when they're on the floor. He switched them out of the lineup because we were losing games, well now we're getting blown out on a pretty regular basis. I believe we were down by 20 points or more in 8 of our last 10 games. Shouldn't that signal a time for a change?

I don't need to wait until the All-Star break to fire him. Unless we're secretly planning to call Tom Thibodeau right now and hire him mid-season (I doubt he'd want to come mid-season), then just fire Scott NOW and let Madsen take over the rest of the year. Sure he'll suck, but he can't be worse than Scott. At least you can just call him directly and tell him what to do.

I'm so sick of Byron Scott. I'm sick of the Lakers. This is bulls*** and we shouldn't be forced to sit through it.

Yes great work! I like the media types also being copied on these. Hold off on the "poo" shots on his head and crown and scepter, though. Then they'd think you're just crazy. ...... oh wait! :Crazyartest:

You know, maybe we've been too hard on Scott. In his defense as he sees it, it's the young guys' fault. The team is now "mentally fried" and no matter what he comes up with that's brilliant, makes no difference.

Byron Scott says the Los Angeles Lakers are mentally fried
By James Herbert | NBA writer

    December 28, 2015 2:27 pm ET

    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on...ays-the-los-angeles-lakers-are-mentally-fried

The Los Angeles Lakers have lost 26 of their 31 games, and they've trailed by at least 20 points in each of their last seven losses, per ESPN's Baxter Holmes. After the latest defeat, head coach Byron Scott said the team was mentally fried:

"From a mental standpoint, we just look like we're fried," he said Sunday after the Lakers fell to 5-26 with a 112-96 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. "We're not reacting accordingly and everything is a step or two behind."

Scott said that issue is "something we've got to fight through. When you've got a young bunch of guys, you've got to fight through." He said the Lakers also need to "focus a lot more."

"Tonight, just like the last game against the Clippers, just too many mental mistakes," he said. "It seems like we're a step or two slow on reacting on everything right now. I don't think it's physical, to be honest with you. I think tonight, the effort was there."

Hey, at least this is better than all the times Scott has called his team "soft." Around this time of year, it makes sense that the Lakers would be drained. All that losing takes a toll, and it's not as if they've been making great progress throughout the season.

You have to wonder, though, if Scott is going to consider giving D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle more playing time. He benched them both three weeks ago, and they almost never reach the 30-minute mark anymore.

Scott said he'll take another look at his team's rotations following this road trip, which will conclude Tuesday with a game against the Boston C Bags. They remain the future of the franchise, and Russell in particular needs the ball in his hands. Considering the team's record, developing them should be the No. 1 priority.

    Needs poo crown.

In other words, Boron has fried the players mentally.

^^ I like how the author is calling Byron out on not playing the kids. The main reason I tune in to games is to watch them and I'm infuriated by the demotion to the bench and even more, the lack of PT period. They are our most talented players and they are the ones who need to be developed. Lou Williams is a 6th man for a reason. Instead Byron is playing the guy 35 minutes a game. And his effectiveness is stunted in that role. Nance is a nice young talent but he should not be starting, closing out games and playing more minutes than Randle unless there is a specific match up we want to exploit somehow. To just give him the position while playing Randle 20 minutes or less is totally asinine.

You know things are bad when you start nodding your head at what Bill Simmons said.
