I'll be a dissenter here: he was about 5 minutes away from earning his spot. A couple nice shots offensively and that great help side block on Vonleh just about sealed the deal. Then he almost single handedly gave back our entire lead. The bigger issue: did Upshaw out play him?
I s*** on him all the time but I have to give credit where it's due. He had a very nice game for Sacre standards and did what we needed him to. Lots of fouls, but some were a little unwarranted.
Yeah I was hating on him too, but he was fine. I'd rather see him at the 5 than Bass, but not more than Black, so I still don't like him playing. He's a last resort, not a full time backup.
If we can unload KWAMAAYYYY BROWN for Pau Gasol, we gonna land Anthony Davis for Rob Sacre. Don't I wish...
Just curious why I keep seeing Whiteside's name pop up in people's dream rosters for next year. Why would he come to the Lakers? Option 1: More money + Pat Riley Option 2: Less money + Jim Buss Seems like a pretty easy call...
Whiteside's situation with the Heat is messed up when it comes to resigning him as their own FA. They don't have his Birds Rights and with what bigs are getting paid these days (see Tristan Thompson lately), he won't be cheap. The Lakers have a good shot at landing him... as do a lot of other teams who have plenty of cap space next season. http://www.businessinsider.com/hass...ncy-will-put-heat-in-awkward-position-2015-11
Not really actually. 1. Like @gill said the Heat actually CAN'T offer him more money. He'll hit this summer as an UFA meaning any offer from any team will be the same. The difference? Miami's tax situation means he makes slightly more there (or in Texas) than he does in LA although not as much as people assume. And of course Riley will likely pay him more under the table like everyone pretty much knows he did for their LeBron years. 2. Here he'd be with a team more suited to his age and style. He'd grow with them and in the 2-3 years it takes to be truly competitive, he'll be in his prime. If he re-signs in Miami it'll be him, Dragic, and Winslow. If he signs in LA it'll be him, Russell, Randle, and Clarkson. There's some reasons to sign here over Miami, but it's a tall order for sure. Having us be more competitive would have been nice for drawing FAs.
Thanks to you and @gill. Didn't realize Miami won't have his bird rights. Now this makes sense. If we can get Whiteside, I think the odds of getting KD improve significantly (albeit, still low IMHO).
The main reason he won't come here is we didn't keep him after we worked him out . Players have egos and don't forget such things .
How in the world this guy plays over Black is beyond me. Shows the level of incompetence of the current Lakers organization. You know things should change when EVERYONE is in agreement on multiple issues.
Sacre makes Kwame Brown look like an NBA All Star. He is so bad. Can't rebound, can't finish, can't protect the paint, can't shoot, he literally gives us nothing out there. He wouldn't be on any other NBA roster.
