Hmm, maybe he does have issues. That or playing for Philly is causing issues, I can't figure it out. If he had them before maybe that can help account for his reportedly poor workout for the Lakers, maybe he did some partying in LA, or maybe his attitude wasn't great out there. Whatever the case if I were management I'd ask him to stay out of the clubs for a while, he's not even 21, and he hasn't earned anything yet. Maybe work harder on trying to get a win and less partying, I dunno.
Okafor as a rookie: 17.5 pts/ 8.2 rbnds/ 1.3 asts/ 1.6 blcks 46.2% from the field (33 minutes per game) Bynum's All-Star 2012 season: 18.7 pts/ 11.8 rbnds/1.4 asts/ 1.9 blcks 55.% from the field (35 minutes per game) Bynum is better across the board and played on a team with Kobe and Pau in their player-primes. Okafor is playing by himself as a rook. Obviously it remains to be seen if those numbers keep up all season, but I don't think it's unreasonable to think he'll improve as his career progresses. Already Jahlil is lightyears ahead of where Bynum was at the same age. I'd prefer Bynum 10/10 times from our champ runs, but I'm just saying... Seems kind of silly to to think Okafor couldn't approximate Andrew's abilities given time and experience.
Losing has to be driving him nuts, but he's showing why the age limit is discussed in earnest. Time for players to mature ON and OFF the court. No replacement for life experience.
