As your sig indicates, Coach Scott is a genius! When he says it's two, it's two. Now run suicides and don't forget to man up while you're at it.

So, the leash is there. I bet not even Boron himself knows how "it works", because sure as hell Russell doesn't. He's like "f*** it, im taking the kid out of the game. Let me f*** with the rotations and confidence of our players some more". From one of the most likable Lakers ever to this... FML

Com'on Real, hop on the god damn hate wagon:giggle: Orlando game was a fluke from a coaching perspective... he still effed it up towards the end.

I'm not saying Byron is a good coach, I'm just going to be reasonable with the hatred. :D

I think at this point most of us are all in on the hate so we ignore the slivers of silver lining.

You know I'm the optimist! I've got to look for the good stuff.

10-4-3 on 39% shooting given the fact that he's in a terrible system, with terrible players, and a terrible coach....he really can only get better from here on out. I like that he can rebound as a guard though. Soon he will be a triple double threat every night

his numbers are pretty close to my expectations, actually. thought maybe a couple more assists and a slightly better three point percentage. he's going to be fine. his poise and skills are there, his defense is ahead of my expectations, and he has more burst than i saw in college. it's just going to take time.

He's not going to get many assists playing 2 guard and no pick and rolls being run for him.

I'm not sure if you're agreeing or offering Magic as a counterexample of sorts. Please clarify :)

I switched up his wording a bit and was using Magic's face as a sly smile.

I think DA is a special player. He has arguably the best per36 minute stats on the team as a rookie - and even as he's being called a bust by people who don't know anything. He reminds me of Jason Kidd a lot.

    Player A Rookie month of November - 29mpg,9.8 ppg, 5.3 apg, 3.2 rpg, 2.5 TO 41.7%FG, 38.5% 3PT
    Player B Rookie month of November - 25mpg, 9.8ppg, 2.9 apg, 4.3 rpg, 1.4 TO, 38.9%FG, 32.4% 3PT
    Player C Rookie month of November - 27mpg, 12.2ppg, 4.1 apg, 3.3 rpg, 2.5 TO, 34.5%FG, 24% 3PT
    Player D Rookie month of November - 17.9 mpg, 6.9 ppg, 3.6 apg, 1.7 rpg, 1.9 TO, 47.4%FG, 38%3PT

    Player A - Steph Curry
    Player B - D'Angelo Russell
    Player C - Russell Westbrook
    Player D - Steve Nash

Guys like CP3, Kyrie, Derrick Rose were immediately given the reigns to their teams and put up way better numbers. Russell is clearly being held back, but there is NO WAY he can be considered a bust when looking at great PGs with around the same minutes.

The expectations for D'Angelo are vastly different from players A, C and D though. People expect the 2nd pick to have an immediate and apparent impact and it's magnified immensely by playing for the most prominent franchise in all of basketball. It also doesn't help that the player everyone thought we should've drafted is playing way better. What's disconcerting is that the last two rookie point guards that our "coach" had both weren't held back and won rookie of the year. Granted, both of them didn't really have any competition in winning that award those years and won in landslides. Basically what I'm saying is that I blame Byron 99% for ruining D'Angelo's first few weeks in the NBA.

I think he's a better shooter by far at his age than Kidd was. I do however agree that people calling him a bust are flat out wrong and not paying attention. It's unfortunate for him that his counterparts have gotten off to hot starts. Porzingis and Towns specifically kind of boost the expectations of Russell unfairly. Mudiay has been hit or miss in his role with more responsibility. Winslow and Stan Johnson have been average. Hezonja and Cauley-Stein have been alright.

The difference I suppose is that Russell is in LA and we're struggling and people love to pay extra attention to that combination.
