I was saying Kobe was bad for D'Angelo's development a few games ago! :D

I think Kobe has been worse than Byron for his development by far and I think the last couple of games proved my point.

Russell just needs to hang out with JC over the summer, they'll get thick and solid together!

You said "when you pick a guy #2 I don't think you should be satisfied with an All Star" So basically you mean a #2 pick should on average produce a superstar.

Those were the #2 picks for 8 years, I don't see how that's not fair and pointing out that 3/5 first picks were really good just makes my point about the #2 picks. There were some real gems @ #1 but not so much @ #2. With some obvious exceptions (mega-deep drafts like when KD went @#2), #2 picks are usually not nearly as special. It still remains to be seen whether this year was a good draft class or not. I'd be satisfied totally with the pick if Russell turns out to be a player that makes the ASG once or twice.

Of course I'll be ecstatic if he goes beyond that but so far I don't quite feel it though that could change, I think he is going to need quite a bit of time for him to mesh in the nba.

btw, I was thinking during the Miami game the other night that dragic was another tale of optimism for Russell. it took dragic a while to figure out how to play in the nba, but when he did, he made an all-nba squad. I think Russell has more in the bag than dragic ever did.

I think people forget that a guy like MIKE BIBBY actually never made the all star team, but he was a stone cold killer for the Kings, and I would be pretty happy if Russell ends up as good as him (Bibby was #2 pick I believe).

Another guy that was 2nd overall was....Jason Williams on the Bulls...but he suffered a crazy motorcycle accident that I believe derailed his career...otherwise he was on his way to being pretty good.

Can't tell you how good that makes me feel. That's all effort. Most little guys hate going down low, and for him to switch and then jump back out at the shooter.... like I've said,"just wanna see progress from him" and we're getting that.

Yeah I've said it before, DLO is a good defender at the pg spot. He's also a very good rebounder for his position. He gets really good looks, is automatic from midrange, his 3s are still short when he misses which means he just needs to adjust to the nba line and/or get stronger legs. Just needs to learn to attack the basket effective and that'll open up everything for him.

Porzingis! Okafor! Mudiay! and of course KAT looked miles better than Russell so far.I have to say it's just disheartening that we might have bust at the moment. This is on the idiots in the FO who either made a stupid mistake in picking a raw prospect who will not amount to anything or would take years to develop despite having a choice to draft other players who were available and ready to contribute.

Wow really? The kid has played eight games and he's a bust already SMH. Again it's hard to judge him against the others because they actually are being used properly.

Mudiay looks miles ahead of him?

I don't agree with that. At all.

Uh, what? None of those guys that we could have actually drafted look miles better than Russ, they've just had the green light/been featured and gotten lots of minutes from game 1. Russ will need time, as keeps being said, but I see no bust potential here. His shot is too smooth, his basketball IQ is too high, and his defense is already too solid. He's also averaging under 2 turnovers, he is not careless with the ball.

I think Towns might be miles ahead of him... The only thing that worried me about him was his biomechanics and he's looking better in that regard. His legs still scare me, but he's looking much more solid inside than he did coming out of college already.

Let's wait with the bust talk a little, please. This season is hard on all of us, no need to take it out on a kid ;).
Outside of KAT, Russell was the guy i wanted the most. After watching all these scrub PG's for years, he'll be a breath of fresh air, you'll see.

Yeah. I don't think any of those guys look miles ahead of him. Maybe Towns. The bust talk is just way too early. He's shown a lot of promise on the court in what may be the most complex situation of any of the rookies with so many ball dominant players to keep happy along with questionable coaching and guidance. His numbers actually aren't bad and the level of criticism he is getting at this stage of his career is just ridiculous to be honest. When we discussed what we thought he would average as a rookie, most of us put his numbers around what they are now except with more assists and less rebounds and expected him to really turn it on around the all star break similar to Clarkson.

And it's complete BS and hindsight to talk about Kristaps to be honest. We would have all been ready to burn down the Staples Center if the front office had drafted him. I can't recall a single poster who wanted him at the time.
