Anyone short of MJ in his prime couldn't help this sinking ship. Scott has to learn how to stop the water from getting in or jump out for the greater good of everyone else on board.

See I don't agree though. There's some problems here, but there's some serious effing talent. If someone put their foot down on Kobe and made him sit in the post... If someone let D'Angelo and Huertas run some pick and roll instead of the Princeton... If if if if if that all comes back to Byron.

I honestly feel this is close to a 40 win team with a great coach. With a good coach they're probably in the mid-thirties. With Byron they're below 30 and have an outside shot at keeping that pick.

True. Another staff could get more out of this group. I was referring to the current status quo with Byron at the helm...

Kid is a special play maker.

Really is. That kind of court vision, the accuracy, the feel for the game and where his teammates are and will be, improvisation, and not even giving the defense a chance to react.

Once Russell's defense catches up and his jump shot improves and gets a little stronger I think we have our first franchise point guard since Magic Johnson.

There's only one thing that worries me about Russell. And that's whether Byron will stunt his development. Take the training wheels off, boss. Turn him loose.

Jeezus, I remember even back in his days at Ohio (certainly since coming to Lakers) he always speaks highly of you no matter how negative the conversation....

This is pretty great. Hopefully both of them learned a lot from this. If I was Russell I'd be pointing out spots where Kobe was making mistakes too. The two of them have a long way to go before they're playing the way they need to play to win games.

Starting to see him coming out of his shell. I thank Randle for that hard screen that dropped Jack to the floor that helped Russell "break" his ankles. Really started to have a little more confidence after sinking that J.

STFU Byron....good game by Russell...would like to see more assists though but unfortunately this system won't allow for that.

Big picture: Benching him in the 4th for 10 to 20 games until he "earns" it will only help him. Scott is old school. He's gonna be tough on the rookie. Look at Clarkson. He barely played the first 41 games last year. Finished 1st team all rookie.

For Russell's part, he's playing better. Just wanna keep seeing progress.
