That's quite a 180 you've gone from the discussion we had during the first half of the gameday chat. I was saying these things WHILE he was making those shots in the first half. He can't play this way anymore.
I said this in game time in the 2nd half, you probably just missed it. When Kobe started chucking I said "ok, I see your point now, Ras". The first half, it seemed ok to me, because he was making shots, we were winning, I thought he'd even out. But then he just didn't stop, terrible threes, unnecessary ISO ball. I wouldn't even have put Kobe in the last 5 minutes to finish it out the way he was playing, and him going 0-5 then helps that argument. We all know that will never happen though. Even in the beginning of the discussion we had though, I was only asking what you wanted to see out of him, as what he was doing was kind of what I expected. I didn't really get why you seemed to be getting upset, if you were, when I wasn't necessarily disagreeing with you, but trying to find out where you were coming from.
Byron probably figured he had to make up for forgetting to sub him out the whole first quarter. 3 straight coaches now since Phil with WTF substitution patterns.
I don't know about a month into the season, but by January, I think you'll be right. Randle has to start making those chippies. Once he does, he will immediately be our best player. But at this point, we can't just give him the title because he will eventually make them. And I am ready to give the nod to Clarkson over Kobe because Kobe has been the guy we saw last night pretty much since his achilles detonated. It's no secret that I'm not a huge fan of Kobe the person, but he was the best player of his generation along with TIM-AY. But this guy we're seeing is not Kobe. If it was just last night, then yeah, I'd be with you on Kobe. This has been him though the last 40 games or so with a couple vintage Kobe games sprinkled in. I really like you Real, I'm not sure how we can't ever agree on a thing.
I don't agree though. I thought Kobe looked vastly different than he did the last couple years. That first half he was great and fit well into his new role. It's on Byron and the rest of the team to keep him in check. I think the two of us have a great back-and-forth.
^He didn't play much different in the first half and 2nd half. The difference was he made his shots in the first half. Making shots has a way of making you think they are good shots.
He hit some incredibly difficult shots. Teams will let him take those shots everytime. The result: 8-23...
I thought the shots he was taking in the 2nd half were way worse than the 1st half. There was a stretch where he threw up 4 threes in a row I think and all of them were clunkers. He did no such thing in the 1st half.
agree with real; i noticed a difference in the way he was using possessions in the second half. even prior to his taking a shot, i didn't like what he was doing. i didn't feel that way in the first half.
Kobe made some tough shots in the first half but almost all of his shots were after just 1-2 dribbles. He went into chucker mode in the second half and it was pretty frustrating to watch. I'm hoping it was his alpha coming out and pressing to show the world that he's back. Let's hope he tones it down some and Byron can...i don't know...actually institute an offense.
Don't know the context of the reply but why can a player say this but all Byronn gives us is "have to play harder".
I want Jordan playing 40 minutes. He'd probably average 22-5-5. Problem is, would Kobe's ego allow another player averaging more points than him?
Clearly the best player on the team at the moment, young and firey, which means we should limit his minutes. ~Byron probably
If Clarkson ever gets it from a defensive stand point look out. With his athleticism he could be an absolute nightmare defensively. Offensively he looks so polished right now. That floater is automatic right now and his jump shot has improved expenentially.
