Yup in fact I'm watching the game for the 3rd time right now as he's getting burned by Rubio, making him look like a HOFer for a career high.

Would you be happy with any role player averaging those numbers in 26 minutes? I mean, not everyone has the system catered to their strengths. I just can't comprehend why he didn't show more assertiveness and effort.

OK. Then Randle was too. I wasn't thinking of calling his first game brilliant but no problem if that's the bar. I know KAT is more polished already with his moves and off hand, but Julius has "STRENGTH" :Jacksnicker: in other areas that Town does not.

You've got to give rookies opportunities to learn, especially when it's a lottery pick. That's a commitment. Putting him on the floor isn't enough. He needs to control more possessions, even if that means he struggles a bit now.

True. Also understandable with the sophistication and variety of options in his offense that is just going to take a lot of time for everyone. [IMG]

how could anyone be assertive when Kobe was a black hole? i saw a guy making an effort to get the ball, but Kobe passed like 3 times all night and our bigs weren't kicking it out when he was open at the arc. I still trace it all back to Byron for not having any sort of offense.

i'd also like to add that i personally saw a noticeable pep in his step when he finally got the chance to initiate the offense late in the 3rd. unfortunately, we just had a lineup out there was struggling and again, Byron refused to make an adjustment.

I agree about Kobe being a black hole. I wonder if it even matters what system Byron implements anymore, because once it gets in Kobe's hand, the ball's going up.

It matters. And guys just need to take the ball. I bet DAR changes things a bit. Could see him taking it out of Kobe's hands if he gets more experience and confidence.

That might be the most impressive thing a rookie does all season if it happens.

It would be nice if Byron can use his influence over Kobe and talk to him about moving the ball

The only person that ever had that sort of influence is Fisher.

The one that Byron has alluded to on multiple occasions.

Or is this just a one way relationship whereby Byron doesn't hold Kobe accountable? If that's the case, then why did we hire Byron?

Even Mike Brown had the guts to bench Kobe a few seasons ago. There is zero excuse for Byron to refuse to try to coach Kobe and try and reign him in. He even said earlier Kobe shouldn't be jacking up 13 three pointers if he's only gonna make 3 of them.

I don't like the "if" there at all. He shouldn't be jacking up 13 threes, period.

If the shots are within rhythm and are in the confines of the offense and Kobe is shooting a high percentage than I'm fine with him shooting the three ball. It's not so much the attempts for me as the kind of attempts.

This. It's not the amount of shots he's taking, its the type of shots he takes.
