Him and Bass to me look like outsiders-looking-in. F*** you Byron Scott.

Russell can use a little humiliation to become more humble. It'll help him in the future. He talks a little too much for my taste. He should let his game do the talking.

Didn't like the pick on draft night, and I still don't like it. I feel like a 5 year old whose parents are making me eat spinach.

Can't even really judge the kid. It was clear Russell wasn't part of the game plan at all. It was all about Clarkson, Kobe, and Randle. Basically just tried to make him a spot up shooter which is definitely not a strength of his. Didn't take advantage of his play making ability. Didn't play him down the stretch. Just pathetic coachingz

Liked the pick on draft night and still like it.

Russell was the least of our problems tonight. He (along with a few others) was open plenty of times but our lack of a game plan and ball movement failed time and again to get guys the ball. He started forcing his shot in the third but at that point I think he had only gotten around 3 looks. I would have liked to see more intensity on defense, but no way can this be pinned on him.

I said in the other thread, I have no clue what we were doing with him for most of the game.

If it's the coaching and not the player, you'd like to think management would step in over time. You can't have the #2 pick in the draft being wasted and not developed, not even knowing his role. I'd Byron does that, Mitch and co have to step in, that's not the plan.

I honestly don't see the "superstar" potential at all. Im not saying youre wrong, heck i hope youre right, but I just don't see him being anything close to a superstar.

Maybe not, but the horrific game plan or lack there of didn't help matters at all.

Nah. Russell isn't slow and his defense was actually pretty solid in the summer league and preseason.

Im not gonna write him off after his first game but kid needs a lot of work. We all knew he was the one with "delayed impact" but with a very high ceeling.

To be fair, I counted about 5 top-shelf passes that really aught to have been assists, but for his teammates not realizing the ball was coming right to them in time. That problem should correct itself over time.

I sure hope this kid has thick skin and is smart enough to not be baited by reporters when they compare him to the rest of his draft class. A couple of them had pretty nice debuts.

Y'all, it's one game. Who could say what anyone's role is on this team yet? Outside Hibbert and possibly Kobe I don't see what I'd call clearly defined roles. Well, Lou's in his role.
