I don't want to get too high on the guy, but this is very exciting. I see a superstar in the making.

    Scandal for Randle :twothumbs:

He is a beast. When you hear guys like Kobe and Worthy compare his skills to Barkley, Odom and Randolph; I think we're on to something special. It's easy to drink the kool-aid, but there are 8 rings backing up those statements. Pretty damn exciting watching this guy develop. I can't wait for this season

All he needed was time. The rust from that first game seems like a distant memory to me. :)

He's a keeper, and there is a good reason why he was untouchable in the "potential trade" talks for Cousins. I'd say good call.

    • Skilled
    • Talented
    • Beast
    • Work Ethic
    • Good head on shoulders
    • Likable

Just don't start complaining to refs Julius. You are essentially a rookie, so don't expect calls.

We don't seem to be talking about the fact that he excelled at PF, rather at his expected SF position.

Hibbert, Randle, Kobe, Clarkson, Nick or something, was it?

I've never liked that idea of Randle at the three and I've said that since last year. I just think his gifts are much better suited for the 4. He's a mismatch there - 4's aren't quick enough to deal with his speed and athleticism. He's too big for a 3 and he would get in foul trouble every night trying to guard that position with guys smaller and quicker than him. His rebounding, his post play - it all works much better at the 4. And it leaves room to get a stud 3 in free agency this summer or next.

Liking the momentum growing for the Randle hype train.

BUT, I want to see him get as hungry for rebounds as he is to score.

Randle shows signs of an all star. If he would perfect his 3 pointer shots later in his career he will be a superstar. We hit the jackpot if he stays healthy.

Agreed. I think he needs to work on his shooting all around right now - mid-range, right hand around the rim, long range, free throwing. The step back looks pretty good, but even that could be more polished. Luckily we've got time.

honestly, with how broken his midrange shot looks right now, I'd tell him to watch early film of biff and just play like that. if he can hit those little intermediate stepbacks in the paint, that will be enough to average in the teens. at some point, he needs that 15-17 footer, but no sense forcing up those shots right now.

use some of the space that opponents are giving him to make safe passes and get another part of the offense going. also, use their lack of body contact to get more offensive boards (something he's already noticing, I think).

Yes, the box score was a little light at the defensive end. Exceeding expectations on the all around offensive end for me right now though. Hopefully that end will come, and he will be a great ying to Hibbert's yang in the post.

He's showing he's not a catch and shoot guy, money when he goes to the dribble and makes a move. But that's after 3 preseason games! I know that 15-18 ft shot will come along.

Off the backboard shots any time he can get them as well when in close. Julius, BTW, has lots of "swag" in the open court. Let's not forget that Kobe was his idol growing up. Look at Shaq's oldest son ....gonna be a monster but he "handles" in the open court and can shoot J's. Oh My!! Sucks for Julius' opponents when some of the comments "last" Summer League were ("you can get hurt guarding this guy").

    Not at all...

To be fair I'm pretty sure a I read it in a column during that tank season, I can't remember where though. The other funny one was "Hari-kari for Jabari" (Parker) :D

I think a healthy Julius wins it last year. I think a healthy Julius has a shot to win it for the "Peoples' ROTY this year against a much stronger class, though last year's class certainly had some stand out players. Before a lot of them broke. Even more so than Jordan, who if he had started from beginning of the season might have won it.

We saw some of that last night, but yes I agree with you that we need to see the consistent hunger all game and more consistently throughout this season.
