I think it's just because of the show honestly.

Peterson is arguably the most renowned personal trainer in L.A. In addition to working with hundreds of different athletes (including Carmelo Anthony, Roy Hibbert, Kevin Love, Rajon Rondo and John Wall), he consults with A-list celebrities and actors to prepare them for movie roles.

He wakes up every weekday morning at 3:45 a.m. to begin his workouts before his first client arrives at around 6 a.m. His first NBA player was Kurt Rambis in 1994, and since then he's added Lakers, Clippers and dozens of other All-Star-signed framed jerseys from his clients all around his gym walls, even on the ceiling. His specialization is basketball-specific exercises that mimic movements on the court.

Hibbert started working with Peterson during this year's All-Star Weekend, and he was so impressed that he bought a house just two blocks from the trainer's gym entering the summer before he was traded to the Lakers.

"He was my first NBA guy in this summer, and he never missed a workout," Peterson said. "He dropped a ton of body fat, he got stronger, his movement improved—his head is right."

This struck me as extremely odd:

Can you imagine Kobe getting to a workout with a posse? SMDH.

Kobe never had a posse. But if he had, they would have been sleeping at 4...5AM.

Long interview but definitely worthwhile. Especially with so little going on in LD right now. Saturday and like only several posts. Sit your butt down when you can fit in the 17 minutes. Really a nice feel for Roy and who he is, beyond the usual short interviews and all the same questions. Seems like a good guy with a sense of humor. Has good opinions on several of his teammates and certainly will be a player of experience for the young guys to lean on. Like a few others have also said, I hope we take advantage of him, beyond what he scores on his own from his work in close on he boards, etc. to get him easy buckets on the huge mismatches height wise and with certain match ups when they present themselves. Why the heck not. Good get ROFY. [IMG]

nice to hear him say that he knows his role and won't be demanding the ball on offense. I didn't love hearing him say that his weight loss was in part to adjust to the modern nba--he needs to dig in and force the small teams to adjust to him, like he did against Miami a couple years ago (time before last). not that I'm against shedding unnecessary weight and being in better condition, I just think a big guy shouldn't buy into the mentality that he is becoming obsolete--largely because that's false.

In his case his post game isn't tremendous. His body change is a really good thing not just to speed up but just in general. The Laker trainer was sure to point out also that he lost fat but put on muscle as well.
