Phil Jackson: Kristaps Porzingis 'Might Almost Be Too Tall' For Basketball
    AUG 17, 2015 4:00 PM

Phil Jackson has some concerns that Kristaps Porzingis could be too tall. Porzingis is 7'3 and Jackson expects him to add 10 pounds of muscle before the start of the season.

"Like Shawn Bradley, who was nevertheless a pretty good player, K.P. might almost be too tall for the game," Jackson said in the latest edition of "The Phil Files" published by ESPN. "What I mean is that his core strength might never be good enough, and that he might not be able to get low enough to get himself into prime defensive position to body power rebounders or drivers."

The Knicks are committed to giving Porzingis minutes at power forward.

"He can score," Jackson said. "But his natural bent is to be a team player. On defense, he can block shots from behind and is quick enough to stay in front of guards in screen-roll situations."

You just drafted him, and you are saying this to the media in NY? What's wrong with Phil. Even if you feel that way, what's the point of comparing him to Shawn Bradley? Yikes...

Is he freakin serious? Does he know what town he lives in? What team he's GM for? Has he gone senile? NY fans just ripped this pick apart, you passed on some serious talent and took a gamble on him, and now you say THIS? Phil's lost his damn mind. He needs to shut the hell up already.

Stephen A Smith is gonna go nuts about this tomorrow, oh man that's gonna be entertaining.

Shawn Bradley was a total stiff... He was in everyone's dunk highlight film...even Derek Fisher's. Porzingis has more natural talent than Bradley could ever dream of. Not a fair comparison at all.

Trying to sell low? Trying some of his games? Or...

    Trying to get fired?

Wondering when we get an updated version of this... where he says he's 70 and untrustworthy, and sad.

    and just for fun memories....

I think Phil has a bigger ego than Jordan and Kobe combined. He's a divisive force that misses the attention and spotlight that being one of the best coaches of all time provided for him. He doesn't have to do daily interviews now, so now he's saying outrageous things out of desperation to feed the hole. It's sad. He needs help.

Jeannie, I'm available and single if you need to go through a rebound time in your life. [IMG]

Funny that all those Kobe supposedly had character disagreements (as opposed to young females of Mexican descent disagreement) with are now exposed as
being somewhat of asshats. Shaq. Phil. Who am I forgetting?

Dummy should have married Jeanie already. He'd be better for it. I'm guessing he never does. Feel more sad for her as she always wanted it.

sirronstuff said, "Wondering when we get an updated version of this..." and JSM just like "The Mailman" delivers.

    WOW!! Boom goes the dynamite!

Screamin' A was screaming' but that was not schtick. That was from the heart. I've hated Skip for years because of his style and manufactured takes to create chaos on the set with Smith, but even everything he said seemed genuine. It really seems Phil wants to be fired. I don't know why, Jeanie if she ever fired her brother, would be that stupid and put this egomaniac in charge of the Lakers. Marry him if it makes her happy but after watching Phil this year, not as a coach, holy crap.... the Peter Principle.
