What? He already shown multiple times creativity to build defensive schemes that overcame individual shortcomings from the roster. He has also planned well against top players like Wemby, SGA and Jokic with good results, again, while having non-defensive minded players
I agree with this take 100%. We chose to go young, now you have to give the most talented ones room to grow. I’m sure JJ has been told this, but he’s shown to hold a very tight and short leash with our young guns in the most recent past.
One of the Canadian Gray Jays that come by my cabin for breakfast told me AR has been lifting this off-season and is going to be banging people around and fighting through screens. I haven't been able to confirm this however...lol.
loved the pick and his performance in summer league thus far, but i'm not ready to pencil him in the rotation yet. i'm still so burned by knecht.
He needs some game speed reps to get the wrinkles out of his game JJ will have to ramp up his minutes, make sure to give him opportunities and not just sit him on the bench Carr needs to take advantage of the minutes to hone his game It's nice to have a young guy like him with so much talent Now we need to make sure he has the help he needs to develop
I haven’t been able to watch much but I did catch the highlights from the lakers spurs game. One play stood out where Carr had a clear path to the hoop and Tarris Reed was patrolling. Instead of trying to posterize him (which he could) he used his body to shield Reed and make the easy layup. To me that’s what I want to see, he’s skilled and plays offense intelligently and with confidence. The confidence stood out even during the combine scrimmages. If they keep letting him play summer league he’s going to get hot and drop a 30 piece. I’m not saying he’s on Darryn Peterson’s level but he debuted with I think 28 pts while cam had 26 pts. Just saying he belongs, a keeper for sure. That said he got pushed around by RJ Davis on some of his drives but he’ll add 15 lbs in time and be alright. If we pick up a few more wings this offseason we won’t need to rely on him this year, which is probably best for Cam and the team.
I agree with pretty much everything in your post. JJ is going to be walking a fine line with Cam. We are going to need that shot and his defense for a playoff run. His stroke is special. He needs minutes pretty much from day one to get comfortable and build chemistry so when he is inevitably needed he is as ready as he can be. Luka, AR and Walker can do the heavy lifting and carry the pressure. We aren't picking up anyone that I can see that has that smooth natural stroke. He shoots so easy from anywhere, has good IQ and can play defense. It also wouldn't surprise me if Cam just comes in and claims a spot with I'm ready attitude right away. We got a good one.
can't foresee a world in which he starts over grimes this year, but it would be great to just see him get burn, as our recent first rounders have been pretty sad.
