Hibbert plays like Bynum used to in some respects. A bit on the slow side and deliberate but knows what to do. The difference between the two is that the latter has that edge. Like knocking someone on their duff just because...

Just because? It was obvious Andrew was overheating and needed to get that jersey off ASAP. :whew:

I don't agree with much of what is being said about Hibbert. His offensive game is a lot better than it's being made out to be, and it could be much better if he wanted, but he doesn't. His focus is defense. I can guarantee Roy would take a DPOY award over a scoring title. He knows he can help a team more by shutting down opponents at the rim than he could by scoring more, so that's what he works on more than anything.

Yes, he's slow, which is why Indy was #20-#25 in pace. They built most of their system around Roy's defense, and it seems like it paid off. #1 in the league in guarding the 3, partly because of some very good perimeter defenders but also due to them being able to take away the 3 because they had complete confidence in Roy getting the stop if they got beat off the dribble. They allowed something crazy like 44% at the rim when Roy was in the game. Opponents might as well settle for a 20 footer at those percentages. Roy being slow is only an issue if your coach is foolish enough not to build around him.

It seems like when a person posts something negative a bunch of people try to out do the negative post and it snowballs into someone being worthless. Roy is a huge upgrade for our team and is going to play hard giving it all he has... I for one am very happy he is on the team and will celebrate what he adds instead of dwelling on any negative aspect I can find.

You know if he can give us 1988 Jabbar type of numbers with higher block totals, that would be awesome. 40 year old KAJ would still dominate these shrimps today. Kareem had 14.5 pts. 6 rebs 1.1 blk then.

That's almost unfair because KAJ is arguably the best center ever, and in this NBA you don't even have too many real centers anymore. Of course a 40-year old Jabbar would dominate them.

It's crazy how Kareem was thought to have regressed in his last two years but right now I could not see anyone in the league today better than a then 40 year old Cap. It's all about the three ball even for centers.

This draymond green movement is gonna make the low post game a thing of the past... Someone's gotta bring it back. Don't know if you can count on hibbert for that, but I'm hopeful

On offense Okafor certainly will and Embiid if he is ever able to get healthy and have his career, was being compared to Hakeem. The Sky Hook though, as a shot "any" time, even if the defense knows it's coming..... probably never. Kareen was already too tall and then went straight up another couple feet off one leg with his long shooting arm further extended straight and the ball flipped in from the very top with the wrist.

Look at the 38 year old Kareem. He'd be in the running for MVP easily.

Kareem was unique. He's the best overall player I've ever seen. I think at 6'6" he would have been an all time great.

The NBA changed post Jordan. Passing, motion and team play began to dwindle in favor of the Alfa-Scorer. Kobe and a few lesser guys have kept that moving forward until now when we just had the first jumps shot first team win a championship. Now the trend is to use front court players to set up a 3 shot rather than the other way around. I'm not sure that GS will do this again. A lot of things went their way that probably won't again.

I think a strong front court all around player would be a significant advantage in todays game. Very few out there and even fewer on the way.

Not understanding what you said with the 6'6" comment? Of course he is an all time great. Or are you saying in all the MJ consensus all time greatest type conversations?

I said I've never seen a better player. So, I think he's the best player ever. I think he was so complete that his same game at 6'6" instead of 7'2" would have been good enough for consideration as an all time great.

MJ played during the TV era of the NBA. Kareem played during a time when one game a week was broadcast and it was tape delayed 90% of the time. I think that is why he's not considered the greatest ever.

Finally got to listen to Roy, Lou and Brandon at their introduction event. Really liked what the first two said who genuinely seemed happy to be here and confident about their games and willingness to do whatever is needed. Brandon more reserved with the blue collar vibe and short answers at first not seeming as eager, but then dropped the I was always a Lakers fan in college and now here I am in the purple and gold. Excited for all three of these guys. Hibbert definitely sounds like he's on a mission.

In an interview with David Aldridge of NBA.com, Hibbert said that playing under Vogel was "great," but that he was looking forward to playing for a coach who "actually played in the league." From NBA.com:

RH: I'm just going to focus on the defense. I know I said it before, but it's important to realize I can possibly change the game. When I met with Mitch (Kupchak) and BScott, we came together and we talked about the expectations and what they wanted from me and how I could affect the game. We had a real good talk. I told them, I want to be like that (Andrew) Bogut-type guy, the defensive guy, because we have a lot of guys who can score already on this team. I'm at the point where I want to win a championship, and getting to play with Kobe, it's an amazing opportunity for me. I wanted to play with a shooting guard or a small forward like Paul (George), who was athletic and can take over games offensively. And I wanted to play for a coach who actually played in the league if I had my own choice. Not to say that Frank (Vogel) wasn't great. I had some real good times with Frank and we played well. But I told my agent that I possibly wanted to play for a coach that played in the league.

Great stuff! I really do think we're going to get the best Hibbert season he has had yet in the league
