I agree, what we're seeing is special.

It is truly special, and we should appreciate greatness. I'm pretty sure we'll see even better players in our lifetime though. Basketball evolves, just as every science around it (including various kinds of boosters ;)), and better and more durable players are the end result.

Looked a lot more fluid out there than vs the Cavs. Think that game took a lot out of him emotionally.

A player in their prime dunking like that is noteworthy. In their 40s... WILD.

If only basketball was played on the offensive end…

He’s still a defensive force, if healthy, when the chips are down and not gassed from bad minutes management. That athleticism, size and strength get channeled. Pacing himself through the season at 41 issn’t that guy.

He's been a freak on defense in the 4th if the Lakers are in it. I get the concerns part of the reason they got blown out is Lebron doesn't go all out on D till 4th and his off ball defense blows but the paradox is they are really good in clutch games because Lebron turns into a force on that end.

It was funny in the Clips game where Kawhii ran away from both Lebron and Vando

Lebron is probably still the best defensive player we have - outside of Vando when he’s on.

which is why we're among the league's worst defenses and every single trade i dream up involves bringing in players who can defend.

and as pioneer indicated, rather than being a flex, i'd say that "he's a pretty good defender on the rare occasion that he chooses to play it" is the exact problem?

just get me to the 4th quarter isn't something anyone can ever really say, particularly someone making 1/3 of the salary cap.

edit: i'd also argue that smart is our best non-vando defender, which is also a problem given his age/injury/availability issues.

the numbers i like best have lebron basically on par with reaves and luka on defense (and way behind both on offense).

Like when he constantly complains when he doesn’t get a call and doesn’t get back on defense?
Or when nearly everyone can dribble past him.
Or when he makes super slow defensive rotations?
