There is some good behind the scenes stuff in there and a better understanding of how the heart issue affects him somewhat still but he's getting stronger and stronger. That's what he was told he HAD to do to be able to play like the good players in the league at his size, is get his cardio fitness up to elite level. And yeah Gabe was mentioned multiple times as helping him. Sounds like a real good locker room dude as will Marcus Smart be with a bigger personality.

Good read and explains a lot of what he has been going through

The G coach, Guthrie got in his ear and challenged him and he responded well

He's putting in the work to get in top shape with not only workouts but diet

Shying away from the spotlight while he improves

Hoping he gets it all together and becomes a solid NBA player

Can't help but pull for him

Good that he was challenged to improve his defense or lose playing time

Now about getting those hands up...

i wonder if featuring bronny on the g league team is why we kind of moved off olivari?

maybe i'll look silly later, but i'm not sure spending a ton on developing bronny's on-ball game is the best use of time. i just don't think he can be an nba pg. he's a small sg who can defend either spot. the league has spots for these types (e.g., gpII, melton, avery bradley, etc.), but none of them are running pick and roll for a team that wants to win basketball games.

i'd honestly be playing him at sg in the g-league and having him work only on in-game catch and shoot and defending the other team's best perimeter player every trip down. that's his eventual role at the next level, if he has one.

Yeah, that seemed to be the discourse initially but apparently we moved away from it for whatever reason. Maybe they saw something while training him but I don't like it either.

Or maybe the idea is to develop him into a more tradable player. This on-ball version increases his future trade value if he gets to the level people are expecting too

...or it diminishes his value by asking him to do things he's bad at instead of things he's good at.

there just isn't any star potential here, and there's not going to be an nba team that is looking for bronny to be on the ball on offense. he can already use the dribble to attack closeouts (now, he needs to be worthy of closing out on), and i'm not sure he'll ever need much more than that. even the passing--he needs to make passes off zero-to-one dribble, not after having control of the ball. it's a different way of playing.

whatever, again, maybe they're right, i've just yet to see anything that makes me think it's going anywhere.

I'm totally with you, just trying to read the situation and what they may be thinking

That's what we need right now! If he could just take Vincent's backup minutes at POA defender, it would make it even easier to consolidate trade Vincent and others for a wing or big and not necessarily need a POA defender back. It's also why we got Smart, it wasn't for his offense, we have Luka, LeBron, and Reaves at functional PG on offense.

yeah, and i think vincent was alluding to this when he said eventually bronny might come for his job. but for now, i think he feels (appropriately) safe.

I think Gabe will be traded this season, opening up a spot for Bronny to develop.
My big question: Will JJ have the patience to let Bronny make a few mistakes during his time on the court or pull tightly on a short leash?
One thing’s for certain, Bronny will be able to learn from a guy who he should be patterning his game after: Marcus Smart.

i think between gabe and smart's absences/injuries, he'll get some chances. i don't expect him to wow in year two, but he'll look steadier. if we're relying on him this year to help us win, that will mean things went south.

I still expect Smart to see a lot of himself in Bronny size, weight and strength wise and especially since he's LeBron's son, doing all he can to teach him the finer points of aggressive top level defense, not to mention whatever he adds about running as a PG. And Gabe has already taken a liking to him and that role on last year from what Bronny has said. Really great for his development. And Bronny no doubt knows if he wants minutes he's going to have to be showing out in practice and will be busting his butt every day, especially with JJ telling him at the end of the season, as he has with Austin and others that he'll need to be in elite physical condition. Not to mention the mental and physical training from all time great Pops himself. Mate all of that with the kind of young man he seems to be and his work ethic and definitely he's going to look a whole lot better in year 2 with the varsity when and if he gets chances in games IMO.
