Weird game yesterday with MIN having a much-needed win in hand, blowing a 24 point lead in the 4th Q to MIL...Dante hit a 25 footer to give them a 95-71 lead with 10:02 left in the game. They ended up losing by 7. Wow. Total collapse. MIL outscored them 40-13 in the 4th. Tonight, in San Francisco, GSW needed a win desperately and they were down 2 when Harrison Barnes fouled Draymond, who hit both FTs. Timeout Spurs. 3.2 secs left. Barnes gets it, Jimmy's in his jock, he still hits a 3 to win at the buzzer. GSW loses. Lakers win. GSW loses. PHO is eliminated from the playoffs. All's right with the world.
love kerr's approach there, btw. it's hard to be funny when you're that mad. after people were pronouncing him coach-washed early in the year, he's done a very good job pulling that team together. credit to curry for not checking out as well, but you need leadership to do what they've done this year. that roster isn't that talented, imo. they play much better defense than they should, given their personnel. and they're winning games whilst playing buddy hield, which is basically a first.
Just updating on Jaylen...and Jaden (Ivey): Jaylen was at MEM's shoot-around today, broken wrist, out for the playoffs, of course. He was smiling and dribbling with his non-injured hand. Jaden Ivey has been cleared for "basketball activity" by the Pistons' medical staff. Kudos to all those who tended to this kid: when I saw that injury it gave me the Thiesmann Horrors. As I get older, I find I'm evermore sympathetic to NBA players who sustain serious injuries. Of course, even non-Lakers. When you look at how every guy who gets an NBA contract is a statistical freak: size, ability, skills to cut it in the world-class league, dedication: even the scrubs who get 2 mins in a blowout...they're all amazing, in their own ways. A lot of American kids who make to the NBA grow up in dangerous neighborhoods and they have to keep their eyes down and just work hard. And there's a ton of luck involved. My heart warms when I see that Wells and Ivey are going to play again. And all this sheds light on the ethical conduct of fantastically gifted IDIOTS like Ja Morant. Of course.
I'm CONSTANTLY amazed at the falls these guys take from high in the air landing flat on their backs and in other ways and get up from them. Some a lot more slowly than others and of course sometimes with things broken in the process.
