Davis and Wesley both got drafted in the same class and its obvious who's 'getting it' faster between the two...love it when he's on the floor
Getting way off track but I'm hopeful for: Lin/??? (I like Price, but he's not a rotation player on a Championship level team) Kobe/Clarkson Thompson/Young (Klay is a fantastic young player and I'd offer him a max deal and force GS's hand) Randle/Kelly M. Gasol/Davis It's technically possible if we let go of Hill, Boozer, and Nash and waive our rights to them. Then Kobe comes off the books, the Cap keeps going up and we end up with a core of Lin Thompson Durant Randle Gasol Oh I can dream big alright.
Lin is going to be starting so Davis should start also. Lin and Davis have proven just over a short period of time that they can work magic together on the P&R. Lin is an amazing P&R surveyor and makes the right decisions most of the time. Hill is better suited to be a energy guy off the bench.
Not necessarily. We haven't seen Lin on with Hill much yet, and he could possibly develop the same chemistry with Jordan too. Either way, those players are quite similar with Davis with the defensive edge, but Jordan really has earned his starting spot here on the Lakers.
I think Davis is the better player, PERIOD and he works better with Lin. It's pretty much been proven in this short sample called the preseason. When Lin/Davis are working off the P&R, great things have happened. Not with Hill. Davis just has chemistry with Lin.
You haven't seen Hill play with Lin much yet, how can you even determine that? So you're not hoping Lin will develop any chemistry with anyone. JUST DAVIS. PERIOD... So based off preseason, that's how the season will go...yeah, great short sample.
It's true, we haven't seen Lin/Hill much yet. But I can't dispute what I've seen when Lin/Hill have been together. P&R magic. A lot of dunks/lay ups for Davis. And like I said, I think Davis has the higher ceiling. He is a better rim protector and more athletic.
Again, both have their strengths and weaknesses. Ed is the better rim protector, but Hill is much more adept to offensive boards, which works a lot better when Kobe's on the floor taking jumpers. Hill developed a decent midrange shot, something which Davis doesn't have. If Kobe's going to be working on the post, we can't have Davis clogging the paint. Hill and Boozer can spread the floor for Kobe. Also, keep in mind this is Hill's third year here. He gets the nod for the work he put in, and putting up with MDA's crap. He deserves to start.
Hill definitely fits with Kobe better and that's really all I'm concerned about in the starting lineup. We don't have Durant, LeBron, or any other stars on our team so ANYBODY in the starting lineup is meant to supplement Kobe for now. Lin takes pressure off of him offensively and defensively. Hill is there to clean up boards off the 45% shooting Kobe will likely put up. Boozer is there to spread the floor and take his man out of the paint while also rebounding effectively. And Wesley is there to defend the other team's best player. Lin/Davis is fine. That's great. It's fantastic that we have something we can rely on offensively when Kobe is out. BUT that's only important if Kobe isn't on the floor. At least seven times out of ten I want Kobe running the offense when he's on the floor. He's our best point generator. Since that's true, we need a true rebounder in there to clean things up around the rim when Kobe misses and that's Hill. Davis is a great rim protector and I'd probably go with him to finish games, but to start it's Hill. No question.
But why does the team have to center around Kobe? Why can't the team be about youth, athleticism and building for the future when we know we aren't winning anything this year? When Randle, Lin, Davis and Clarkson were in the ball game at the same time, I got goose pumps. Those are the guys I want to see on the court. Let them get the playing time and jell with one another. They are the future, Kobe is the past. I have to ask you. What do you want from this season? To win as many games as possible or to have a combination of winning some games AND letting our young talents develop? I know I choose the latter.
Yup, that's me. LGL. I changed my name cause you guys keep riding me about "Let's Go Clippers" and all. Not worth all the hassle.
