Maybe it's just me, and I like Jordan, but I think "Gabe" is still the better defender, ball handler and offensive threat as well? Maybe I'm wrong .... this from Shams: "Goodwin has emerged as a key reserve for JJ Redick, averaging 6.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 20.5 minutes while shooting 41% from 3."
it's irrational but I just can't stand watching Gabe - the 3 point pullups he makes are f*** why is he shooting that before they gone, he feels like he misses wide catch and shoots all the time, and he's completely useless when it comes to finishing/driving. I get why people like Gabe he does things like box out, fight for post position, etc but I just like watching Goodwin more. He'll drive if his shot not falling, rebounds. hopefully he continue to improve his catch and shoot 3 point shooting
i like gabe, but i think he won't be here past next year, if he even makes it that far. that said, i'm not sure goodwin really replicates him. goodwin brings what we wanted from reddish, imo, so that's a good swap. bronny is that guy who can grow into what we want from gabe, imo, but he's not ready and may not be ready next year.
LOVE IT, great business. Really good find by JJ too, his type of role player like DFS. Hard-nose defender, hustler and does what he's told. His offensive rebounding is not spoken enough, I think he's elite. Type of guy I won't mind it stays for a few years. Would have preferred a longer contract, but 2 years guaranteed is good.
Message to him this summer would be: work on the 3 ball, work on the 3 ball, work on the 3 ball. He's been better this year but if he can get to where the defenders don't leave him open, that can be the difference in him being an 8th/9th man to a 6th/7th man in the league.
Obvious no brainer move. The guy flat out earned it. Cam was a tantalizing talent but just couldn’t sustain it for more than 20 games without becoming unplayable. A shame really.
Yeah he can definitely improve. I think now we will start developing players in a consistent way. Because their role will be very clear and we are now on a long-term window. I hate changing the roster every year like we were doing after the title. He knows exactly what he will be asked to do in this team for the next 2 years. And most of it is really simple. The 3 ball is definitely the biggest improvement he can make. And he can drive too, so the better his 3 ball gets, the better he can attack closeouts and really be a weapon on offense that will extend his minutes range He can spend every single day in offseason preparing for that role. He looks like a smart player too, I think he will carve a spot on the NBA as a very solid role player, like DFS already is.
i'm saying he's played well enough that he will probably have vet min offers from several spots next summer if he just quit right now. that's at least a little leverage. i agree that we've been a bit liberal with the POs. but again, that's part of why if i were his agent i'd have opened with that and settled for a partial guarantee next year. instead it's a full team option. anyway, boring. i *think*--and this is getting ahead too far--we might have his early bird rights after next year, should he develop a three ball...
