DFS needs to start every single game from here on out. If Vando is out, DFS needs 35 minutes minimum every single game. Dude does nothing but good things out there on both ends, and is pretty consistent. He communicates well, solid veteran. Love this guy.

Love this guy. Being the captain on D and doing all the right things doesn't get him enough credit.

    Against Charlotte

    24 hours later

Plus Luka is giddy as hell when he sets him up for a 3. There was an above the break 3 Luka set him up for against Charlotte, after DFS hit it, Luka was grinning like a kid who was just told they could pick out anything they wanted at the candy store.

Dude is a straight up winner. Such a turning point for our team when we traded dlo for DFS. Plays winning basketball, won’t go crazy on the stat sheet, but those +20s are looking like the real story out there for him. MOAR DFS!!!!!

From my check, seems like he has a player option this offseason, i sure hope he stays, and we can pay this man handsomely for the extension he oh so deserves.

I really liked the trade to get him and he's still managed to exceed my expectations.

DFS is old fashion tough. Rob will find a way to keep him.

Luka coming to the Lakers was the best thing to happen for DFS. If DFS doesn't get resigned, then Luka could potentially walk. They have a very close relationship together from their Mavericks days. DFS has all the leverage in a contract deal.

we've got his bird rights and a good situation, so i expect him to opt out and re-sign to a bigger deal.

one thing rob's been good at, imo (knock on wood), is re-signing our key players to reasonable deals without creating acrimony. this is a skill that i feel like translated from his time as an agent. he probably has a very good idea of what DFS's agent wants and competitors can offer, and he'll go over the latter without insulting the former.

It's that "scrambling" thing with pitchforks and even foxholes mixed in. Thanks for your contributions Magic and Ramona.

That’s pretty crazy for DFS considering always a different mix of lineups around him with the variety in the rotations and minutes. Wow!

Scoreboard FO NBA player basketball evaluation/scouting to go with the overall stellar draft performance the last decade.:rock:

The guy is the definition of solid. You can count on him to play hard every night. He understands his role and doesn't try to do too much and doesn't care if he doesn't get many shots a particular night.

my only issue with the DFS trade was that we used our biggest expiring salary in it, so our hopes of trading for a star-level player went out the window.

    narrator: they did not.

but DFS is most certainly a guy you want on your team. he's the anti-dlo in sort of all ways--not super talented, no ability to carry offense in any way, but attentive, hard-nosed, unafraid, and beloved by anyone who shares his side of the court.

DFS is huge for us. He does all the little things, watch him when a rebound goes up - first thing he does is put a body on the nearest opposing player.

He does all the small things that lead to winning.

actually Gabe does too. AR is famous for it. Vando, of course.

It’s no surprise to me that we started winning more when Gabe found some form, Vando got healthy and DFS arrived.

Like you said, AR does a lot of it too, he’s always drawing charges or fighting for loose balls. It’s not a surprise that our poor run of form happened when he was injured.

Having your role players work hard at the intangibles and fundamentals is so important for a winning culture. It’s one of the big reasons I’m glad players like DLO are gone.
