Saw some highlights during the Bucks game, 3pt shooting centers will give him fits, will probably be unplayable against them

Here's some highlights from this season:

There are certain aspects of his game where he reminds me of young Bynum, ehm... in more ways then one. I hope his ligaments are going to hold up better. Normally, I'd suggest he gain about 10 lbs if possible, but I'm not sure if that would actually be good for him. We'll see. The highlights are really, really nice though.

Maybe, but the second half of that game he had over 20/10.

Rob must be doing something right if GM's are calling him.

Weighs less than Luka. What happened to big bruiser type. Maybe we should play Luka at center.

Luka reminded Pelinka the most underrated reason of our success in 2020 : vertical spacing with Javale and D12

That's exactly right. There are other factors, but I think that was one of the reasons we decided to move forward. You know what was interesting to me: when the trade waws competed, LBJ said that AD called him, and they shared some "uncomfortable truths with each other...wondering what that could have been?

Listening to the spaces last night, really put it into perspective with me, but I don't want to go down a rabbit hole in the Mark Williams thread. You guys touched on his medicals: I'll post something in a bit from LG from "LakersMD".

I HATE this trade for now.
Dalton is going to turn into a 18ppg scorer, and Williams is not known to be a defensive anchor at all.
    At least he’s young.
It will remain to be seen if a first and pick swap is an overpay or not.

Luka and Bron would make Manute Bol look good. Just set the screen and roll to the basket, bball 101.
Freakin Gortat looked good next to Nash. Steve made that sucker a multimillionaire.

I hate this trade. This was an overpay for a mediocre center.

This is very important as we seem to give up too many opportunities for rebounds

Key attribute for him and icing on the cake with his other skills

the only way it's an overpay is if Luka gets hurt. Otherwise, we gave up a late 1st and likely no pick swap. It's tough to be a defensive anchor on a bad team with losing aspirations. I understand your feeling as my first reaction was to be bummed. Haven't watched him play and all I knew about the guy was that he had some injury questions, but the Hornets seemed to be moving forward with him as their center after the Richards trade.

There's a lot to like about this kid. In his rookie year, the Hornets defensive rating difference between him On/Off court is eye opening. Give it a chance. I liked Dalton, but his lack of any bball IQ became a bit alarming. Hoping he turns into a 20ppg guy, but I'm comfortable getting a 23 year old center averaging 16/10 with a block.

It is a risky trade because of injuries, but he probably would not have been available if he didn't have that concern. Sad to see guys like Knecht and Christie go, but we are officially back at the point of trading our young players to win now.

Although because of his age this sort of accomplishes two things still. Overall, its a bit steep of a trade but it makes sense.

I wonder if 3 pt shooting centers will be playable against him if we play to our strengths? Maybe we get those guys in foul trouble, but no doubt every player will have weaknesses, and although he looks fairly solid shuffling his feet on defense under the basket, there is room for improvement. Might not be a bad idea to that exact player type as his backup though for matchup purposes.

to be fair, we basically gave up 2 firsts with Knecht. He's going to be a solid player in the right situation and will do his share of torching people. I expect him to get lots of reps in Charlotte and for us to look at him longingly from time to time wondering about what could have been. But the need TODAY for a big was greater than for a rookie shooter with holes in his game and no D.

What I love is that we had really solid young players that the league covets and puts value on that made these trades possible. Kudos to the team on many levels for that. It cannot be understated how important our scouting and farm system is. Hope a couple of our other youngins turn into major assets like this.

I read it was nothing structural but a bone bruise somewhere in the back area that took awhile (even on other teams players :) ) and hasn’t recurred since. Since it was a bruise. ;)
