    This kid WAS one of the NBA’s best kept secrets. I wanted Kessler big time, but Williams is younger, more athletic, and a bigger scoring threat.

    I just didn’t think he was available since the Hornets just traded Nick Richards to create more time for Williams. Amazing get by Rob, and he did it just as silently as the Luka deal.

    This is a write up from his rookie year:

    “Mark Williams is a defensive beast that alters every shot in the paint if its not blocked. Before Mark Williams became the Hornets starter, the Hornets were 25th in defensive rating and since he became their starter they’ve been 7th. During the last 24 games the Charlotte Hornets managed to have a .500 record and during this stretch they were 2nd best defense in the league when Mark played and 21st in the 8 games he didn’t play.

    There is no other player who’s team jumps from one of the best defenses in the league when he plays to one of the worst when he doesn’t play as consistently.”

    The potential on defence is there. He’s also missed more games than he needed to because Charlotte shut him down yearly for tanking reasons. If he can stay healthy and apply himself, we’ve got a potentially great young center on our hands.

    Holy crap look what he’s doing against teams with established centers and I love that he’s got the height, length, athleticism and youth to match up in those regards with Wemby. Sounds BETTER than Kessler. Sit on it and twirl Danny!! Rob you magnificent bast*rd.

    !!! Sad that we lost Max and DK, but we kept AR who is more valuable. We needed a legit starting C. 16+10 guy we can use on both D and O. If he stays healthy his numbers can grow too.
