I don't know why more people aren't calling him out... Oh right because he works for ESPN. I mean really this is either a flat out lie from a guy quoting "sources" and he made this up OR he wasn't smart enough to realize that Cuban wouldn't waste his time driving around Houston looking for Jordan's house. Cuban is worth billions of dollars. Does he sound like the kind of guy who would drive around anywhere looking for anyone? No. He's infinitely smarter than that.

Broussard took an embarrassing situation, tried to inflate it, and instead made himself look completely foolish.

IMO, Broussard should be fired. He lied (my guess) or he trusted a horrible source. Both are grounds for termination.

At least suspension or some sort of punishment.

ESPN allows him to post stuff like this and then brush it off like it's no big deal. He's clearly a person you can't take seriously and isn't that the job of a supposed news outlet?

Not something all of us don't already know but it is a scathing narrative about Broussard's reporting acumen...and lack of common sense. We can bet that he will play off that particular tweet as a "joke" to preserve whatever ounce of credibility he has left...if any. That is his only escape route. I am surprised that he has been silent amidst all this.

Actually he doubled down on it! He has had a particularly strange back-and-forth with Cuban where he says he stands by his sources.

    The power of ESPN.

At the start of all this, one of my friends posted on FB how DJ might change his mind and return to the Clippers. The first comment said, "I am not believing this unless Broussard confirms it." Then the second comment said, "Broussard just confirmed it. *link*"

Casual followers actually think Broussard is a legitimate "source" for information.

If he had WOJ's track record and this happened, no big deal. Got some bad information, but has nearly a flawless track record and manages to get the info first. Broussard is always late to the party and if his own information is ever right, it's like 1 out of 15 times.

It's mostly glossed over, but he actually tweeted the meeting was over only to be immediately disputed by Woj. Then he said something about how they were staying there anyway despite the meeting being over. The guy was flat out making stuff up last night.

I just informed a friend on Facebook how much of a jerk move the dj thing was. He thought he just simply resumed with the clips.

If you're going to fire Broussard, you have grounds to fire everyone at ESPN that has ever been wrong when citing a source.

The meeting was over though. They stayed there and played cards.

@trodgers the Yahoo writer speaking in the link above about Broussard is named Travis Rodgers.

Oh, yeah. He might be the same one who was a produce for the Jim Rome show. I think Eric (Emplay) was once confused; he'd just had THAT ONE on his show and I was Tweeting with him. He's more famous in sports. I'm more famous in academics.

It used to be. Now it's about ratings and being their b****.

That's why they didn't renew contracts on two of their best people recently.

Wasn't Broussard called out on this "Sources" stuff last offseason? Like he was just taking credit for reposting minutes later what other lesser known journalists were tweeting? There was a whole big thing about it and some writer on Yahoo or something, might even have been Dwyer, was calling for him to be fired. And before that regardless of your stance on the matter he commented on air about gay players in the NBA and brought religion into it.

Broussard is a clown. IMO to even tweet that first thing about Cuban driving around looking for Jordan's house was unprofessional. It's not something someone that's so prominent at ESPN, such a huge and visible sports news network, should just throw out there like that as lightly as a joke. Then for him to argue back with Cuban after Cuban called him on it, it looks incredibly unprofessional to me. Arguing something so silly in the public eye wih an NBA owner, it was a circus.
