AD wore goggles today at practice and Redick said "they looked great" but AD says he won't wear 'em vs. MEM.

AD told McMenamin he tried goggles before the 2020 bubble season but abandoned them "after 20 seconds of a game." McMenamin says "Matter of preference."

"I wore goggles for three years when I was younger," Davis said, alluding to his bespectacled high school look. "I just don't want to [now], to be honest. Obviously, the doctors said I didn't have to. ... If it gets to that point where my eye doctor tells me that I need to wear them, then of course I will. But I've been cleared to go out and play without them."

Paging: Lakers staff who will put pressure on AD's eye doctor to tell him he NEEDS to wear goggles.

My source for this is here.

A big problem is some of these clowns don’t trim their fingernails as evidenced by all the gouges and scars on players’ bodies. One of those guys catches him just “wrong” and it could rip an eyeball open, irregardless of what his doctor says about their current health. And yeah he’s thinking about the old Kareem goggles not what types could be a lot easier to wear.

the league really needs to send out a memo about players cutting their nails and enforce it somehow

look at jokic after every game and his arms/back are covered with cuts

AD should just wear goggles and not the ones JJ wears after every glass of Red wine

I remember seeing a picture of Pau Gasol after the 2009 finals after going up against Dawite and he looked like he had fought a grizzly bear.

I thought Austin Carr used to wear some cool looking goggles myself. Darth Vader black ones, kind of looked like spiffy shades.More like visors than goggles. Marshawn Lynch used to wear similar ones too.

AD's eyebrows are so thick, he might sweat a lot into them, and fog em up or something.

I saw what that ATL rookie did to Lebron’s bicep, scraped all the skin like a lash from a whip

Not his best offensive game, the eye seemed to be bothering him, but he hit 2 big threes and he battled all game for boards against their bigs, Edey is huge and he kept him in check. Also, how has NO doctor recommended goggles/glasses?

the officiating involving him was really bad last night. you'd have thought edey was the perennial all nba player and AD the rook. also seemed like he really didn't want to be the offensive focal point, which i also chalked up to the eye, as it was clearly bothering him from the start.

blows my mind how they won a title with bigs like mcgee/dwight playing the 5 with AD at 4 and then completely abandoned that strategy to have AD play the 5 (which he doesn't like)

i've been against it the whole time, but we've hired two consecutive coaches who seem hell bent on this strategy, so the FO hasn't had much of a fire under them. can't say a lot of good centers have been available, either.

The eye and foul trouble took him out of the game.

He did come back and hit those two huge 3s

And some nice two man game stuff with LBJ

Here's how spoiled he has us this year: an off game is STILL 21/14/3.

Edey being able to hold and hook like it's the 90s was an interesting take on officiating.

he also hit a long two shortly after he came in that was a clear statement FGA (i don't plan on being passive to end this game). i loved his 4th quarter in general.

i have no idea why he doesn't get more respect from the refs. it would be one thing if they were just calling a physical game, but it was ticky tack stuff on AD while they allowed the memphis (especially help defenders) just rake away at his arms on any drive to the basket. and that was intentional--jenkins knew AD would roast edey or huff, so he told them to body check him while the helpers dug at his arms. should have resulted in a 20 FTA game for AD instead of him missing half the game in foul trouble.

btw, i loved when jenkins tried to do a standard iso post of edey on AD and AD just ate his hook shot and told jenkins he should rethink that strategy. i lol'd.

Tee Morant is a funny guy - love the dad energy he brings on that AD 3. Love Ja on the whole (even though the rest of Memphis players annoy the f*** out of me) so wish he will stay out of trouble. Kind of weird if his dad is around so much why he doesn't keep Ja on the straight and narrow
