    This is how FA has always worked though. It's happened tons of times before. Boozer, Deron Williams, Jason Kidd.

    It's never been as publicly hated as this though. League will change the rules, I'd guarantee it.

    Can't talk about a player and his contract before July 9th

    The Clippers and DJ will be looked at like they have the plague. They're dead to the entire NBA. Hope they never recover from the backlash from this damn classless mockery of free agency.

    Kidd never gave a verbal agreement, although the Mavs were highly confident he would be back.
    Boozer also did something similar, but because he was a RFA, the Cavs had the ability to match the offer. Mavs don't.
    I don't think D-Will ever gave a verbal agreement either.
