I don't think it's in the Pacers interest to damage their "relationship" with the Lakers ... (or in and with any franchise for this matter). Balmer should know better ...
Oh man done deal. DeAndre's not smart enough or strong enough to resist all the sales firepower and CP2 ready to put on knee pads for him. Only way he could do it is be a man of his conviction and tell his agent sure we'll listen but I'm staying a Maverick. My money of course is he's gonna cave.
Completely unprofessional by the Clippers. Respect his decision and leave it at that. The Clippers lobbying for DJ just looks desperate, and I doubt this will reverse any decisions.
I think instead we send Hill/Lin to Dallas. They still need a PG and I think for them Lin/Hill is more valuable than Hibbert himself.
This is pathetic and desperate from the Clippers. And honestly if there was going to be a team that does this it's gonna be the Clips. I don't think Bird and the Pacers will go back on the Hibbert deal, no reason to damage their front office since they can just sign Ellis up front.
OOOOH... You wanted a bigger role? You wanted to feel respected? Man... We just didn't even know that!
I made some comments on this kind of organically just the last few in the Wes Johnson thread due to trd putting up some comparative 1st 5 guys lineups between them and Lakers.
And for them to go straight to the player and bypass the agent completely? Man! This is some seriously shady stuff!
There's no letter of the law but it's an unwritten rule. No one is going to want to deal with Clippers and Doc any more after this.
WTF is going on here? I can't believe this is actually happening, I'm not sure I can remember seeing a case like this before. When a player verbally commits to a team, they don't go back on it, and his old team doesn't go after him behind the scenes. It's shady and pathetic. This is so the Clippers, only something I'd expect with Sterling as the owner, not without him. One more reason to dislike Doc, one more reason the Clippers will always be the Clippers, pathetic franchise.
It's happened a few times (Turkoglu comes to mind) but I can't remember a team actually doing something like this. This is the shadiest of business practices
Wouldn't it be amazing if he signs with the Clippers and then Silver comes in and voids it and makes him go to Dallas? #PayBack #Karma #BasketballReasons
Hedo pulled this with Portland back in 2009. He signed with TOR instead. He has not signed a contract so technically he's still a free agent but man this in such poor spirit...Dan Fegan's Relativity sports has a huge list of clients outside of DeAndre (Parsons, John Wall, Cousins, Dwight, Courtney Lee, Marion, Rubio) and they will continue drawing big names, the Clippers are going to lose out big time in the future in dealing with them.
