I learn alot by seeing what my competition is doing. If they have a better approach, it's stupid not to respect it, take note, and adopt what I can.
I like both McGee and Cousins, and I think those were stellar deals for the Lakers. But the Clippers locked up a guy who will be age 22-25 and is already a better defender than either one of them, has more offensive upside than McGee, and will be making $7.8m at age 25 (that's about 5-6% of the cap!). Cousins won't be back at under $7m unless he's absolutely done. So, sure, the Lakers made two great deals for those players - for the upcoming season. After that, the Clippers are in excellent shape with this deal.
It's a lot of money for a guy who can only be useful for 15-20 ( 20 being generous) mins a game . He's worth 3.5-4 millions a year . I'm not going to complain Zu got overpaid though , this is the only position the Floppers have a hole/need. If Harrell gets hurt , they are in deep trouble
But how P&G-tinted are the goggles here? He's going to be 22. He averaged 20.2 MPG last season with the Clippers. Horford got 25m -played 29 mpg and falling, is 33. Brook Lopez got 12m -played under 30 mpg each of the last three, is 31. Valanciunas got 14m -played 22 mpg each of the last two seasons, is 27 Dedmon got 13m -never played more than 25.1 mpg, now age 30 Jordan got 10m -was under 30 mpg for the first time since 2012, dropped to 26 mpg with New York, and is 31. Thomas Bryant got 8m -He's 22, he has played 5 mpg and 21 mpg in his two seasons Zubac could be better than half of those players next season, and he might be better than all of them by the end of his contract. I don't think it's overpaid.
I wanted to watch my "Zu tree" grow. * And I miss having a reason to use Chewey. * Comment by South Bay Lakers staffer when Svi was traded.
538 data... Zubac's 5-year value was $20.6m going into last year. It's up to $47.6m. He's still considered a "rotation player."
Wow .... rescued from page 5. Zu still living the dream and still with hot 5 years older GF. Now upgrading his crib. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/selling-mar-vista-house-clippers-051420881.html
Saw Zubac signed an extension, meaning he'll probably blow away the projections I made for him back in 2016. He has 9 seasons. 504 games 371 starts 9.2 ppg 7.4 rpg
