Just did a search for JHS on social media to see if ANY news on where he is physically currently, and all I can find is him on Instagram below and on Facebook with nothing newer there than a photo from Sept. 2023. He doesn't say anything on his posts on Instagram .... just pics and some are videos. The 2nd row down in the middle is some footage of him working again on dribbling and shooting from 6 weeks ago, so at least that's proof of life that far back after his bulging disc procedure. https://www.instagram.com/jhoodschifino/
He's putting in work at least, we need to hope he turns into a player, either for us or for trade value.
his three came around in the g league last year; i'm really not super worried about that. he just needs to play defense. use that big frame on that end, and he'll be a solid nba player, imo. his handle is strong and he can pass decently. he'll never be a guy who can just break you down and score, but there's plenty of room in nba rotations for three and d players with good positional size.
Please just don’t be “dead guy” this year. Anyone know if he’s going to cleared to play by the beginning of the season? Not expecting much but it would be hard to be worse than his rookie season.
yeah, the back injury is probably my largest concern with him. the other issue is that it's just hard to play inexperienced pgs when you're trying to win, imo. the growth curve can be slow for pgs and centers, particularly when they came out early. as it stands, we shouldn't have to play jhs at all unless dlo or gabe gets hurt. even if that happens, my guess is max and reaves pick up some of the ballhandling and we might even go to reddish for perimeter defense before going to jhs. what i don't want to see is him getting minutes primarily off the ball, like he did at times last year. that made no sense to me; put him in a position to fail. when he played his actual position, he looked better.
Just spit balling here, but it's probably not the best idea to practice your corner three with your foot out of bounds as your starting position.
Someone commented the same on Twitter, and I agree, was just trying to be positive on him for once lol, it’s hard though.
Good caught, that's really weird. But yeah it's one of dozens of workouts so hope it's not a thing If he manages to be playable, it's a huge win for us. We are so thin currently, and Gabe is injury prone so being able to rely on him here and there can help us a ton. I still think our top6 with Rui/Vando is great when healthy. We can compete with any given team. It's when injuries crop up within that core that things can get really bad. Because then we have 3 tiers of backups: Tier 1: Gabe, Max, Knecht - solid backups, it's a win if any of these guys play so well that you don't 'miss' the starters Tier 2: JHS, Reddish, Hayes, Wood - fringe backups, it's a win if they play good enough that we are happy giving them 15+ minutes Tier 3: Bronny, Lewis and the 2-way - g-league players, they have to be balling out just to get to tier 2. Too many unknowns from 9 guys on our roster. But if a couple of each tier raises their level, we'll be pretty good. It's up to the coaching staff as well to put them in positions to elevate their output
