Do these guys who make comments about 3 pt shooting in FIBA realize the 3pt line is shorter in international play? It's one reason Melo looked so good in the Olympics it was right in the sweet spot of his range
but he did shoot 40% from three last year in the nba. his problem is being a negative on defense and the fact that he plays the same position as our two best players.
Don't forget the rebounding. He really needs to learn how to box out. That will help his defense as boards take away the other teams possessions
Sounds like JJ wants corner and crash from him, so I was hoping to see him working harder on the glass this summer. I didn't see either the Germany or Serbia game and yeah one is against Joker, but the rebounding numbers in both those don't scream committed effort.
i feel like corner and crash plays away from rui's strengths. he's a decent cutter, a good spot up three point shooter, and a good iso midrange player. he's not much of a passer or penetrator, and his team defense and rebounding aren't good. if jj wants to use him like that, we should probably just trade him for dorian finney-smith, who's a downgrade in player but does more of what jj wants. though i guess he's never cleared more than 5 boards a game either, and he's played 30+ minutes for years.

Rui looked like Rui. Hit some tough 3's, missed a a few more he should have really made. did some nice 1v1 shot creation. Nothing else to speak of in terms of defense, rebounding, playmaking. He's a pure finisher type with nice size and he seems best suited to one of those scoring bench if he's on a contender. Microwave type to help your offense but just not reliable shooting wise or helpful in other areas to be a guy you can plug into finishing lineups for the playoffs
Man France with a lot of home cooking with the refs. Feel really bad for Rui to get thrown out on that weak call and he was playing great
